Husband swears they are rubies. There are also two things that look like garnets in the rock (cubical, dark burgundy in color). This beauty is mainly quartz, along with mica, and Husband, who is no fool when it comes to this sort of thing, also swears he sees gold when he looks through his microscope. The surrounding area where we found this is bursting with quartz! We found the slightest amount of gold nearby. Tell me we aren't just dreaming all this up? Attachments:

Here's what I believe to be a garnet in the same rock as the one I originally posted. It looks totally unlike the "rubies," which is why I think they are not the same thing. Attachments:

I have seen a stone like this found in western Washington, your is nicer though. I was unable to identify it. best guess is possibly cinnabar.
