Brand new to collecting even though I have "mined" for stones at roadside( sluice?) operations a few times. Went to the mine at Emerald Village and found a few interesting stones and minerals. That inspired me to find the other stones/minerals I had kept from the other "finds" from the roadside trips and next thing you know I'm bitten by that damned bug! LOL Anyway, are the big brown egg shaped Garnets from around W. NC wroth keeping? Also what about the "sapphires" that kinda of look like lt. blue or violet stones? PS., having a hard time figuring out my camera for closeups! LOL Attachments:

;D THAT place in NC is GREAT! Garnet is my Birth Stone, so in terms of INTRINSIC value... YEP! VERY valuable; my wife's Birth Stone is/are Ruby(ies). What WE do with RAW Garnet & Rubies is create MOJO BAGS, as in the Native American (aka Indians) Tradition. YOU can do the same. RAW stones are polished for jewelry as in rings, necklaces, etc. SO! Raw? MAYBE. Polished? For sure! Good Luck in NC!
