Kenworthy states in his first book that "no marks or signs will be found directly over or on top of" a treasure or mine opening. What a crock!!! Fact is, this information was spewed out to keep you from recovering the easiest of all treasures to recover, that being the BANK.
Banks were Established in mine and treasure room locations, and are separate from these others. These banks were created to give quick access to a rather large amount of gold and silver that had come from these mines. Look at them as an ATM.
Kenworthy also lied about the BELL symbol, and it is this very symbol (the BELL) that tells you that you are at a bank, an accumulation. These bell boulders are quite large, and are quite heavy. But all you have to do is "topple" the BELL and then dig out the shaft that exists directly under this BELL boulder. You will hit your treasure at 5' 7'' deep, and how much deeper the shaft goes all depends are how much "money" was stashed there.
Kenworthy DOES mention the "shelter rock", which is basically a large boulder with an over-hang that allows for a person or two to take cover. That information, in itself, proves that there ARE signs that sit directly over an accumulation. While I have NOT seen a shelter rock, I can attest to the fact that these bell boulders exist AT EVERY area that has mines and/or treasure rooms.
The BELL is the most important symbol to locate when it comes to treasure accumulations. These bank accumulations may not hold as much as a treasure room, but they DO hold a few million dollars or more (in todays value).
It's also possible that your bell boulder has already given up the accumulation that was once resting there.
Kenworthy lied about these BELLS, which meant that he then had to lie about the signs and symbols that DO sit directly over treasure. And these bell boulders, if you can find one, may very well be the first, and last, treasure that you ever need to find.
