Huh? Never heard of the Solomon mines in Ky. Good reading and pictures, very interesting. Beale probably has the best info on the Swift mines. I'm pretty sure he has Paul Hensens book that gives a lot of detailed info. There was a BIG stone wall discovered years ago right outside of town that nobody could ever explain. It was so big most of the stones were hauled out in wagons and used in building one of the roads here. I haven't ever made any attempt to locate it.

Yo! ;D R & D... after 7:30 pm (est); STILL day light!!! Reading SWIFT'S SILVER MINES AND RELATED APPALACHIAN TREASURES by Micheal S. Steely, and on page 9, interest in THIS treasure was shown by THOMAS JEFFERSON! Hmmmmmm... HA! I am ready to go looking for Swift's Silver Mine, TOMORROW!!! LOL... unlike the Beale Treasure, there are "markers" for Swift's, that have be seen/found, etc. even by beale. I think the "furnace" in Botetourt County, over the "Gap"/ridge from Montvale, Va. and the "pix" of the "rough" silver bar + "cave" of MORE silver bars that beale knows about... well, it MAY well be connected to the Beale Treasure (as ANOTHER theory...).

Rebel, Have you read about the solid silver spearhead that Mike Steeley found? I have his book also. I do believe the Jonathan Swift Silver Mines are still out there to be found. I found one time the wedding between Jonathan Swift and Desiree Ann Swift while I was researching the CSA Treasury. I have tried to find it again on several occasions but no more such luck. As for the Stone Wall referred to by kydave-------it is near Lexington, Kentucky. The fortifications covered about eight acres of ground. You can read about them in the book written by John Filson. I believe I know where these mines should be located but it takes on the ground work to verify. I found the triangle on the stone to mark one cache of Jonathan Swift's Silver Mines on a creek in West Virginia. I followered a trail made by Daniel Boone when he did survey work for the Transylvania Company to find the marker. I would like to get back there someday but for some reason or the other I can not find the time. Wish all you hunters out there the best. I hope everyone had an enjoyable 4th of July. Sorry I haven't posted in a while but the 9 to 5 keeps you busy sometimes. I sure wish I could treasure hunt all the time. See you around.

The Swift Silver Mines should be located on the Red Bird River of Kentucky. The mines have reportedly been found near Pound Gap and other places along Elkhorn Creek. If these are Swift Silver Mines then they were his poorer mines, the rich mines was north of the French Mines and the French Mines were located on Clear Creek just west of the Cumberland Gap on the Cumberland River. Swift said his rich mines were to the north of the French Mines and that the French were jealous of how rich their mines were. Just a thought or two for those still searching for the Swift Mines.
Myself I believe that Jonathan Swift's Silver mines were a whole lot further west.

Rebel,
Have you made an appointment to go with "swiftsearcher" yet? I think you should contact him and go with him. I have directions to all the mines if you two need them. I would like to go along with you if you could arrange it and maybe Mike Steeley too.

;D beale, I haven't made an appt., and probably won't, since my mom is in the hospital (almost 90 yrs. old), and my neice died of CANCER and was buried earlier this month; her father (my brother) has "carried" TOO much in the Shenandoah Valley, and I am gonna go up in a few days to "share the load". I will "introduce" you to SS & MS on Treasurenet, and advise them of your interest & experience in looking for the SM; to be my "proxy" in the "on the ground" work. Fair enough?
