Yo! ;D beale, THANKS! you saved me time & effort... figured I was gonna have go go to Roanoke, Va. for MORE info. Sounds like the Brugh family were "big-shots" in that area history-wise. THANKS! to Claudine for giving us, "the REST of the story"... Has anyone else read Claudine Fulton Ellis' book, "The Beale Treasure, THE KEY" Everyone interested in searching for the Beale Treasure should read this book. Rebel, trying to get this thread back on line. Other posters need to post in the appropriate thread-------IT SURE MAKES A MESS. When there is a thread going it does not make sense to post a "LINK" links should go under the heading LINK. If I could move the miss posted "POST" to their right thread I would, but it is easier if you have something to say----SAY IT WHERE THERE IS A COMMON LINK. Have a good day. oakster and legrand please put post in their appropriate thread

Yo! ;D Agree with ya, beale... makes it easier to follow "train of thought" for the TOPIC; I will admit, that even I get "off track"; if there is an EXECITING "topic". SOMETIMES, it is easier to "go with the flow"; HOWEVER, later when ya wanna find it again... it is "buried" under ALL the OTHER "good stuff". The "Link" idea is ALSO a good one... AGAIN!! Claudine has LOTS of NEW info, NOT in "regular" book, etc. on the Beall/Beale story. VERY similar to "family legends" that pp told me (although, her "stuff" is NEW...); "local" families are in this "mystery", the Luck Family, the Read family... ALL from Upper Goose Creek Valley.

rebel,
I think it best for the forum if we leave the post and threads as they are and let other posters start a "new thread" when they feel like we need a new thread..
We don't need to catagorize threads for others they can do that themselves. Sorry, if I have offended you but I think it is for the best.
As for "The KEY" Claudine Fulton Ellis is still doing book signings and marketing her book. Others should read it but if they don't it is their loss.

Hey Albert, For once I agree with your Moderator decision...Good Work.
Ron Gervais on his website has an interesting update concerning C 1 and what it may contain. It may be connected to a religious document. The author of the Beale Papers cites "bringing what is dark into the light", the Mormon paper first issued June 1832 is entitled "THE EVENING AND MORNING STAR", (evening--dark, morning--light), if you peruse the first issue you find a party of 30 going west passing through Independence Mo., this among other things that seem to connect with the Beale Paper writings.
Any way just a thought.........

"She has since passed away and now everyone is searching for the "KEY" Also she made a copy when she was eight years old and she tracked it down to a computer expert in Washington, D. C. but was unable to get his name." Does the name G.W. HUNT ring any bells? G.W.Hunt retired from "a government job" and moved to Montvale in search of the treasure, he obtained permission from MARY GIVEN to live on her farm property and search for the treasure for nearly 20 years until his demise. "He was convinced the vault lay on the foothills of Porters Mountain".

I don't know where you got your information from that she had passed away----------it is not true. Pauline Innis did pass away last year but not CLAUDINE FULTON ELLIS-----the girl of eight you refer to--------YOU MUST HAVE THESE TWO NAMES CONFUSED!!! Also GW HUNT was not the computer expert in Washington, D.C.--------It was Dr. Carl Hammer.

I made another trip to Montvale and Bedford County today. I really found out a lot about the Beale Treasure. It will probably take me the rest of this year to check everything out. I am going to document everything with photographs and maps, should anyone want to make future treasure hunts over the same ground.

I have been to the Beale Treasure Vault. It is still sealed up and has not been opened!!!!!!!!!!!! Actually I have found two vaults that need checking out. I don't know when I will have the time nor when I can arrange my time to match the landowner's time. But, one thing is for sure, the Beale Treasure was buried at one of these two locations. There is a third vault on property of Thomas Beall's best friend's. He survived and was the only survivor after 1826. By the way Thomas Jefferson Beall was alive and well up until early spring of 1827. I don't know if the sole survivor recovered the treasure or not. He may have only been paid his share and the treasure could have been removed and buried at another location. Then again his share in 1823 would have been about $25,000. a sizable amount of money for the time, he may not have needed to bother the treasure after all of his friends were killed? That is the reason I said the treasure vaults I have found are all parts or portions of the whole. I have found the location of the metal at the sole survivor's property--------it may only be a portion of his original share--------then again it may be the entire Beall Treasure, only time will tell.

Has anyone out there dug up any information about Robert Morriss? When I get the time, I will, I can't stand this man being a mystery? Also, he worked on the codes for 20 years before turning them over to James Beverly Ward, surely he would have made several copies? Whether they still exist or not should be checked out. Does anyone have the genealogy of David Saunder's Family? That would be a swell place to start. Just some thoughts. I can't be everywhere doing everything? I need some help out there, please.

Rebel,
What building now stands at the corner of Church and Eighth Streets in Lynchburg on the North Corner. That is where the Washington Hotel stood. When you are down that way snap a picture. Thanks.

;D beale, it MAY be The Arlington, DUNNO... will check tomorrow, Saturday, June 14th; Batteau Fest "time" in Lynchburg. When I went to the Jones Memoral Library to research Robert Morriss/ Morris, was the SAME person... HA! They DO have a nice "file" on the Beale Treasure... been to Campbell County Library, where I read Ron G's paper... wasn't TOO impressed with the paper, NOR... Campbell County reference section. Went to Bedford City/County Museum, and chatted with 'em about V & T Railroad, New Jerusalem, P. V., and OTHER interesting things... Wife & I now live in NORTHEAST Bedford County, on the Lynch- burg City "line" (below Eagle Erie, on Rt. 501 NORTH); about ONE mile northeast of Munford's Farms... about TWO miles east of No Business Mountain... about 3 miles NORTH of "old" Forest, Va.; can't wait to "hike" these mountains in late Fall, Winter, early Spring. Got one guy, who is gonna take me on a five mile "hike" up in these mountains (2 hours "hike"... ALL "up-hill"... HA!) I LOVE driving along the "base" of Fleming Mountain (aka Jackson Mountain) on Coffee Road... seeing the Munford Farms areas... CSA "stuff" just GOTTA be up there! ;D
