A couple months back, I posted that I would be able to verify one way or the other by Christmas; whether the Beale Treasure was still in Bedford County, Virginia, or not?
Well, tomorrow is Christmas, and I wish everyone a Very Merry Christmas. My search may very well go into the New Year, 2005.
The company I order my research material from can no longer send me the information I very much need to verify the existence of the Beale Treasure. Since, 911 all of their equipment has been turned over to National and World Security. All of their satellites is watching and guarding our troops as well as strategic points across this country and around the world.
As soon as security is freed up, I may be able once again obtain the information I need. I wish everyone a Merry Christmas, 2004 and a Happy New Year, 2005.
As for the previous post by Mister Slack. I have seen original copies of the "Job Print Pamphlet." This doesn't verify that it was copy righted, but neither does a call to the Library of Congress. You may have gotten someone in a hurry to go home and gave you the answer you received, just to get rid of you and to get on home. I myself believe it was copy righted just like the author said it was.

tjb,
I have now registered since my interest has been peaked. I posted as a guest earlier under the name "MisterSlacker" but I will use my usual internet name of Slacker. As for the Library of Congress issue...they have been getting back to me for the last 4 days now befor Christmas. I have already had 3 independent librarians/researchers look into this for me and no, they are not brushing me off.
I am not calling you a liar, but I would like to know where you saw these "original" copies of the Beale Papers. I would like to see them for myself because I have yet to locate any original copies.
Also, I am sure it is very apparent to all interested in this subject that when one encrypts a message they write the original out first then use a transposition or substitution method (usually) to encrypt it. This means that when you decrypt the message it should look picture perfect..."ZERO" inaccuracies.
So far, all I've seen on the internet in the last 3 months is a bunch of shite. After looking at the (3) cipher sheets over and putting some numbers through MS Excel, I believe that the ciphers were written by two seperate individuals. One person wrote ciphers 1 and 3 and someone else wrote 2...maybe J.B. Ward faked number 2 so that people would be interested in buying his pamphlet at 50 cents a pop...who knows, just and idea.
Hea, if you solved the ciphers, then show me the money. I calculated it last week at a little over 20 million US. That is if cipher 2 is authentic.
I also stand by the saying "seeing is believing". If you can't show me the proof, then I will tune you out as far as a cryptology, research, and investigation goes.
Other than that, I am pleased to meet all of you. I wish you all a happy New Year and I look forward to collaborating with you all on this ellusive mystery of mysteries.

The original cipher sheets were given to Clayton Hart by Hazelwood. They have been either lost or worn out by Clayton Hart and his brother George.
When I said original, I was referring to copies of the Job Print Pamphlet. Some copies were known to exist in 1883---------two years before the claimed copyright of 1885.
Peter Viemeister has a copy given him by McVeigh family. That is the only copy I have ever seen.
Pauline Innis' book, I believe has a copy closer to the original because she obtained them from a family in Roanoke related to Hazelwood.
I wish you luck in your trying to solve the ciphers. I believe I will discontinue my search for the Beale Treasure and try to locate another. Maybe I will come back when the trail gets hot once again. albert_hunter@yahoo.com

After reading the Jan. 4th letter for the "umteenth" time Beale stated that the "whole" Party had visited this cave near Buford's Tavern "BEFORE" they even found the Gold and Silver and thought it would be a good place to bury the Loot! Was it some kinda "Tourist" attraction back then or what? Must be a very large cave that should still be there and had a story to go with it. Or maybe they were going to hide something before they left?

Kydave, That cave was still there when Mel Fisher was digging at the mill in 1989. The cave is located behind the car shredder along US 460 as you go down the hill east towards Paschal Buford's Tavern. About one half mile before you get to the mill and tavern you will come upon a railroad overpass before you get to the overpass immediately on your left is the road that goes to the car shredder. I went and looked for the cave after Mel Fisher left Bedford County and the company had bulldozed over top of the cave entrance. They said they could show me where it had been but I wasn't interested. There is another entrance since this cave ran under Goose Creek Valley and it came out new the church that Paschal Buford built in 1824. It is located on the east side of the ridge behind the church on Route 717. Good hunting

;D HIGH-TEST! Gonna rain today... I have the SAME info that beale has about the cave "system" in Goose Creek Valley, ending up in Upper Goose Creek Valley, NORTH of Montvale, Va. The REASON why the CAVE was NOT used "back then" is that local farmers used it to store VEGGIES in like a root cellar (cool temperature like "frigs" today). SO! TOO many ppl would "know"... and the "hiding place" would NOT be SECURE. TWO burials of "treasure" tells me that after the FIRST burial... TRUSTED local ppl probably built a chambered VAULT 6' "under" to put ALL of it in during the SECOND "deposit". I think they were ROYAL ARCH FREEMASONS, who knew how to keep "secrets" and build wells (water). Topping the site off with a tree or "Sprig of Acacia". www.sacred-texts.com/mas/sof/sof30.htm

Yep if a Cave was there i figured you guys would know about it. But my point was unless all the Party were locals what were they doing hanging around this Cave before they went out west and found the gold? Were they all farmers and grew vegetables that were stored there or going there for other reason. I think i read the Jan. letter right that they all knew about the Cave before they left home the first time and Morriss didn't know any of these people? Strange out of the "Box" thinking on my part maybe?

Is it possible that the other entrance to this Cave is 4 miles from Bufords?

Is it possible that the other entrance to this Cave is 4 miles from Bufords? Yes, it is. As for all of the party knowing about the cave, I explained that in my CD book. They were all members of the Patriot Army and they had used the cave as a depository from 1813 up until 1821. But, they found out others knew about the cave and were using it to store farm produce, so they soon seledted a better place.
