Yo! Rebel here: ;D Beale, we'll "pick up" from here... and let KyDave and "newbies" do their thang on the other thread. Was doing ANOTHER "Tour of Duty" at Lynchburg, Va. mall on Sat. the 18th; in Roanoke, Va. overnight and saw Pastor Paula White today (19th)... why u didn't get me... thanks for leaving message, tho... about mid-April, I will show u the "drill holes", the wells, the huge boulders with "cave" or two... along Goose Creek and old road; will explain what I think; may OR may not be related to Beale Treasure... this is BIGGER!

Yo! Rebel here: ;D Beale, I also did research... "googled" WASHINGTON HOTEL, LYNCHBURG, VA. 1885... got 5 "hits"; 2 on Beale Paper(s) & 3 on A.E. Poe and his "connection"... done by Ward from Maryland... is his kin to "our" Ward? DUNNO...

Yo! "Me" again: ;D ANYHOW... this "story" is complicated by having several "components" to look at in doing research... 1) "The Trip"... out West in 1820's as Beale and his "Companions" did and is verified by several accounts... 2) "The Beale Papers" dated @ 1885... with Morriss, Ward, et al. ... The Treasure Code(s), The Treasure... (ALL reported @ 1885...) 3) later participants in this "Adventure"... 4) modern day WRITERS of this "Adventure"... GEEEZE! Confused yet?!?

Yo! Rebel here: ;D My wife and I were walking along Stoney Fork Creek (over from Goose Creek - SOUTH) near Moneta, Va. and I was "drawn" to a boulder above the creek... it was "odd" and had what appears to be an "X" on it... shadow was on it, so, it "stood" out... ALSO, the "shadow effect" reminded me of how locations of treasure, etc. can be found by sun-light... seasons of the year... mostly in winter with snow on the ground. Wonder IF... from Montvale, Va. look at Sharp Top (Peaks of Otter), watching for Sun Rise in the EAST... Sun Ray(s) hit Sharp Top, and where "shadow" falls (probably on Mountain to WEST and ABOVE Montvale, DUNNO...) COULD BE location to be of GREAT interest. IF it is in the "burned" area above Montvale...

RebSounds like you need to purchase a good deep seeking metal detector to take on your walks. A Gemini by Fisher isn't very expensive and works very well. KellyCo in Florida would be the best deal.

Yo! Rebel here: ;D Beale, when u r ready "for a break" from yer TOME, let me know, and I will show u the rest of the stuff... the old cabin... the "twin" mounds with road going between them... the old road going along Goose Creek "by the old Mill"... the "cave"... the drill holes... etc. etc.; bring a camera, shoot LOTS of "pics' for yer TOME, a new-fangled "FACTION"... fiction, based on FACTS!!! ;D

Yo! Rebel here: Beale, I can see where u would be overwhelmed with all the stuff u have to do... my wife has a manuscript (book), that she rewrote SEVEN times or so... changed the title at least THREE times. I will go to the "place of interest", take "pics", send some to u at a future date... I DO hope u find B.T.; just because Thom. J. Beall/Beale died in 1832, it DOES NOT negate any of your research OR the TRIP OUT WEST in 1819/1822...

Yo! Rebel here: ;D Beale... if u can give me an "outline" of your TOME... (2 Volumes?)... I may be able to find a "Ghost-writer" for u... Peter already has LOTS of family info in his book NEW HISTORY OF BEALE TREASURE... he also wrote an article about the B.T. in April issue of LYNCHBURG LIVING... I have a copy for u... MY vision of your TOME is: your FIRST chapter has ALL the info about the trip out WEST, etc... "outline" the rest of the chapters and either e-mail me OR just come on up, when u can...

Yo! Rebel here: ;D STILL doing Research... this time on... NEWTON HYDE HAZLEWOOD. He is the "connecting link" between the BEALE STORY and the BEALE PAPERS. He lived in Lynchburg AND LATER, in Bufordville (AKA Montvale)... thus knew the "areas of interest". He was "learned and articulate", and had "complete set of Shakespeare" (probably knew of Shakespeare/Bacon Cyphers). He knew J.B. Ward... had one of the Hart Bros. do the Cyphers (typed from original papers; different numbers in Job Print BEALE PAPERS...). BOTH Hazlewood and Ward were MASONS... Hazlewood grew up in Castle Craig on Ward'd Road, south of Lynchburg, Va. CASTLE Craig... and the KGC (Knights of the Golden Circle) called their Lodges CASTLES? HA! Hazlewood lived and taught in Baltimore, Md. where A.E. Poe is buried... met his wife there in Md. (Howard County); Mary Martiott... hmmm, Washington Inn/Hotel... Marriott Inn... NAWWW! and LASTLY, if u r trying to decipher the Beale Codes... be advised... THEY MAY BE DIFFERENT FROM THE ORIGINAL... to protect the "TREASURE" for the original depositers and their descendants...

Yo! Rebel here: Yep Beale, Hazlewood's mother MAY have been an Otey... my info at present time, is taken from Peter's book, THE BEALE TREASURE: NEW HISTORY OF A MYSTERY, Chapter 19, "Trusted Friend". Hazlewood fought in the Civil War ("Old Dominion Rifles" - Company C of the 28th Regiment - Virginia Infantry)... anf thus, probably helped Reb Secret Service hide the CSA TREASURY, in the hills, around MONTVALE... I say this BECAUSE, most of the "locals" speak in terms of Rebel $$$ being in those "HILLS"... I talked to one lady at Peaks of Otter, who told me, "Beale Treasure is on my family's land... we ALSO have a cemetery of BURIED REBELS UP THERE... WITH A MONUMEMT..." Hmmm... I remember reading/hearing about CSA TREASURY being off-loaded from a train in Thaxon, Va. (near Bedford, Va.); the GOLD, SILVER, $$$$, and JEWELRY, was placed in coffins of DEAD REBELS, and some empty coffins - buried in the "hills" near Thaxon/Montvale... there is ALSO, a HUGE cemtery for DEAD REBELS ... IN LYNCHBURG, VA... where TURKEY TOE ROAD is... TURKEY FOOT ROAD... MARSHALL PLANTATION/JOHNSON FARM... BTW, Beale... the Long Boat (THE MARSHALL, which conveyed Stonewall Jackson's arm back to Lynchsburg/Lexington...) is at the "Place of Interest" where the BEECH TREE is... more later...

Yo! me again: ;D Beale, I forgot to mention that Hazlewood's parents' first names are indicated as: FATHER: Henry... MOTHER: Charlotte; ALSO, the Long Boat (AKA Batteau) is at the "Place of Interest"... I think I may be wrong about Jackson's arm... it was buried by his chaplain at the battlefield... the TRAIN conveyed his body (Jackson's) to Lexington, Va.; I will have to double check on what the Marshall Batteau did...
