James Beverly Ward and William Bufford were co-partners and owners of the old Wilkerson Mill four miles east of Bufford's Tavern where Paschal Bufford built the church on the hill near 460. Real nice place to look for the Beale Treasure. Albert

;D Wasn't there a "rumor" that BT WAS there, in the graveyard? RR tracks came through and graveyard had to be moved or something; on NORTH side of Rt. 460 WEST towards Montvale?

I am sorry rebel I meant to say yes and agree with you on the BT rumor but I was disagreeing about the cemetery being moved. No actually the graveyard is still there. The Beale Treasure could be under the railroad tracks in this area as the rail is built up fifty or sixty feet higher than the original ground and the old road to Bedford City passed just south of the railroad through the church yard. ;D STILL reading PV's (RIP) book; JB Ward had a "family cemetery" on Risque Plantation, and a mill in Goose Creek Valley; (p. 132 & p. 133). 1852, Paschal Buford was JUSTICE OF THE PEACE; (p. 132).

;D What I meant in "Reply # 16" above, that the church grave-yard was shifted over; not removed to Montvale. I saw the "tunnel" under the RR Tracks, next to the Church... Mt. Zion, wasn't it? Didn't YOU "look around", up there once?

Rebel, Yes I did look around but the landowner would never give me permission. He said Mel Fisher and others had surveyed his property and he had a couple come and dig a large hole, then they left leaving the hole. He said he could not give anyone else permission because of the ones that had come in there and made a mess of his property. I promised in a contract to refill all holes and to give him $1000. if I found nothing and 1/2 of the treasure if I found it. No way. So I moved on to search somewhere else, place after place but I could never get any landowners permission. So for me anyway searching for the Beale Treasure was a waste of time. I mean do all of the research and then could not get on the property. Makes you stress out if you know what I mean. Albert

THAT is a BUMMER... HOWEVER! You DO have a "pass"; Peter Viemeister (RIP) wrote several books on the BT, and YOU are "listed" by your Atwell name in some, if not ALL. YOU are not just ANY old TH'er, and you "helped" PV (RIP) in "research" FREE! SO! Make "use" of that info... carry ALL his books with YOUR name with you, when looking for BT, in the future. HIS name, "carries weight" & will "give" YOU... "endorsement". Sorta like; if this guy is OK with Peter (RIP)... he is OK, with me. THAT is PV's (RIP) LEGACY to YOU! TRY IT!

Thanks, Rebel, I will. I did have books he had autographed, Pauline Innis and Mel Fisher but I sold them to continue my quest for treasure. I received the check from Lost Treasure today for the article, "How to find Confederate Gold" That is the last story I have written, 16 in all. Need to get back to serious treasure hunting and writing more stories. Keep the faith, will see you soon. Albert

Rebel, I may not get a chance to do anything on the 4th of July. I have to work. But I do have some good news, I have found something larger than the Beale. I don't know yet what to do? I don't know yet who to tell or whom I can trust? But this is really BIG. Albert

It is amazing to me how good things in life are so slow and go by so fast but bad things happen quick and it lingers for a life time. Thanks rebel.

;D JB Ward is buried on this old plantation, which I found out is near NEW LONDON, part of Bedford County (now... WAS Campbell County); looking for "Hunting Hill Drive" near Falling Creek, SOON! Will try to find JB Ward's burial site. Am now a member of Hill City Lodge (last night), so MAY be able to review "minutes book" of the BEALE PAPERS "era". Hill City Lodge was NEW lodge established (1859) after Marshall Lodge was in 1793.

A coupe questions? Beyond the registration card at the LOC, and Ward's initial's and last name in the registration page of the Beale Papers, did Ward ever speak about the Papers post-1885? Could it be possible the Papers were registered in his name without his consent or knowledge? Was Ward a member of any fraternal organizations? Freemasonry, Oddfellows, KGC, Woodmen, etc?
