Has anyone seen, heard of or personally come across a KGC cache that has 100-150 LB rocks layered together with smaller flat rocks like a jig saw puzzle down to about 3-4 ft. ? This would be a site that has either a beech tree with KGC typical markings (such as a turkey track or specifically 3 hash marks and a dangle compass carved in the tree and then 3 hash marks on the nearby rock. ) and/or a large boulder with carvings by or within a few feet of the actual target. First you get 1 ft of soil and then a layer of rocks, then a foot of soil and another layer of rocks then a foot of soil and another layer of rocks. 2 different LRL's show 3 silver targets. No gold. White 808 and pulse induction unit verify.

dixiegal, Is your post a question or an answer. You seem to be asking a question then you say TM-808 and maxi-pulse verify as well as 2 long range locators. One half of this is already wrong as I would not trust any long range locator as they have not been proven to find any treasure. As for the TM-808 it can not verify silver either as it is an all metal detector. As for the maxi-pulse it will sound off on any iron ore rocks or metal trash of any size larger than a quart fruit jar. The only thing I find interesting about your post is the layer of dirt and a layer of rock with another layer of dirt and rock down to about 4 feet. I would dig and use a real good metal detector but be careful it may be a covering for a well.

I think it would ALSO be important to know what STATE this "site" is (SOUTHERN USA?). MOST KGC "depositories" (burials) are different, depending on the terrain of the area... sounds southeastern USA. (SUNNY out).

I'm not concerned with the equipment. We are used to the mineralized soil in N GA and hot rocks. We know what our LRL will do. Its tried and true on many other sites. We dialed the 808 down so it ignores the rocks. It will give you an indication of depth but not exact. We figure 3.5 - 4 ft. We have 3 silver targets and we will go ahead and finish digging it up. But we have not come across this type of thing with the rocks before. Its not a well and its not a tunnel. I don't think its a vault. I think maybe its a lid to provide drainage and keep the target from migrating as its in the 100 year flood plain. Not to mention a deterent to digging it up.
As you all probably know they moved a lot of stuff around in the teens and twenties and we are thinking this is more like something that has been moved and re-buried. The Beech tree is not that old and I think the dangle compass and letters carved into the tree are more modern symbols. Also at exactly 1 ft where you would expect to find a show (payday) buried on top of an intermediate target there was an old glass tonic bottle on its side with the mouth of the bottle pointing directly at another target that is most probably an original site. The bottle is in perfect condition and there is no other trash or debris of any kind in the vicinity. We went online and researched the bottle and the company that made it was circa 1906 - 1925. Hence our theory that its possibly re-buried.
There is a lot more to this than I have discussed. I would be hesitant to post too much online as I'm sure you would also. I would be happy to privately share information we have with someone who is actually working sites in the South as we are and has some information or experience with re-buried caches. My email address is: slancha_1@hotmail.com
Thanks for the input. Good luck to all.

Northern Georgia is HUGE for GOLD depositories... mainly CHEROKEE GOLD; KGC of the early days up to 1915 could have been involved. GOOD LUCK & HH! ;D

The gold is deep down there, went to Dalonega and did some panning once. They have a nice museum with a lot o f gold coins and some giant nuggets and gold bars, really something to see. I think the whole county is 45 miles an hour, like driving in the Smokey Mts. Theres "wire" gold never seen any of that before and they brag that their gold is 98% pure. Might go back someday.
