Yo! ;D I typed a message, and power went out, wiping it out... will TRY to remember it; Munford's farm was HUGE, then; sub-divided now & couldn't tell you who owns what; you have the stuff on Perrowsville, don't you? There is a map, that I marked Munford's Farm BELOW Fleming Mountain (AKA Jackson Mountain to the Rebs up there...); there is NO "street" address, only general "directions". To get to "general area" of Munford's Farm: from Bedford's Wal-Mart... Rt. 460, go east towards Lynchburg, Va. Before you get to Lynchburg, see Sheets "Stop-in" on right side of 460, and a STOP LIGHT. Turn left at Stop Light, onto Rt. 811 (AKA Thom. Jeff. Highway). Stay on 811 until you get to another STOP LIGHT on Rt. 211. Turn left at Stop Light, go through Forest, Va. until you get to another STOP LIGHT at Perrowsville Road; go north to Perrowsville. Take right onto Coffee Road past COFFEE; all kinds of mountain roads up there, such as Walnut Hollow, "?" Farm (can't make it out), Meadow Bridge Drive. MAY have to review a Civil War era map; MAYBE P. V. has one, dunno.

Yo! ;D A few MORE things, I found out about T. T. Munford & Rebels; they were organized in Lynchburg, Va. They kept fighting AFTER Lee's surrender in Appomottox... did whatever they had to do, they DISBANDED in Lynchburg, Va. where they were 1st "organized". I had read and heard from Bedford County natives that the Treasure (note... is NOT named Beale Treasure) was buried near the Peaks of Otter under the Lion's Head; since I was thinking "in-the-box" of Beale Code(s)/Treasure, I dismissed THAT info at the time (2005). beale, in the mountains you explored, have you seen a rock formation that looked like a Lion's Head? OR... it could be a "clue" that Brit. $$$$ was buried up in the Fleming/Jackson Mountain area (Brits loaned LOTS of $$$$ to Rebs during the War, and the LION is a symbol of Great Britain). OR... "Treasure buried under the Lion's Head" COULD BE A CODE... dunno. Supposedly, there are "clues" on Munford's gravestone/momument... dunno

Rebel,
I have heard that also. They say the Lion's Head is on Day Creek? I have also heard that the treasure was buried under a Sheep's Head. To the East of Day Creek you will find Sheep Creek. Sheep Creek is where Danny Johnson's Farm is located. Also where the Tony Brother's were searching in the movie, "Unsolved Mysteries." The BBC filmed on Johnson's Farm and when the movie, "Million Dollar Mysteries" was filmed for FOX Network it was on the Johnson Farm, also. I was in this film as well as "Arthur C. Clark's Mysterious Universe," on the Discovery Channel----this was filmed on Jimmy Luck's Farm in Upper Goose Creek Valley. I believe the History Channel also filmed on the Johnson Farm.
As for the Lion's Head, yes it could mean the $15 Million Dollars in gold bars that the CSA Government got from England in September of 1864. I have been on this treasure tale for years. I have a letter from a Confederate Soldier's grandson written from Greenville, South Carolina to Governor Tuck of Virginia and dated in 1947. He tells of $10 to $11 Million Dollars in gold bars buried by the CSA Government in secret just before they left Virginia. And he says his grandfather wrote the burial location down in minute detail. This soldier's grandson died only a few years back. I have been in contact with his daughter trying to locate the piece of paper that has the directions on it. So far no luck.
But by the letter we do know that it was buried in Virginia just before they left for Greensboro, North Carolina. Most likely location of this treasure is in Danville, Virginia or between Lynchburg and Montvale or Bufford's Tavern-----the supposed location of the Beale Treasure. There may be a connection between the two I have not ruled it out until a recovery is made.
Talk to you later rebel and please keep me informed. Maybe we can find something together soon?

Yo! ;D Calling for Rain, today... beale, good to see that you also heard it and/or something similar; a sheep/lion's head COULD be what the "Rock Formation" looks like... MAY be the same thing. NOW, for some "out-of-the-box" thinking... and some "if" questions; IF, this story WAS a "cover" for CSA $$$$ & weapons, and the "locus of control" was REALLY Fancy Farm, which Buford had owned in 1822 or thereabout, the FOUR MILES FROM BUFORD'S is right there up in the Peaks of Otter area, the Otterville area, the Charlemont area (a Former Brit/Tories area like New London), Johnson Farm, Johnson Orchard area, No Business Mountain, Bedford City, on the BORDER of New Jerusalem, SOUTH Goose Creek, AND... a few ridges SOUTH of the James River, in which "Packet Boats" of CSA stuff, COULD have floated down the James River from ABOVE the "Falls" from Richmond. Then, Munford's Unit COULD have been assigned to guard it and bury it... under the Lion's or Sheep's Head. That done, in the "LAST capital" of the Confederacy in Lynchburg, once the "order" was done... they disbanded... "Bear" had a place in the mountains of Big Island area; MAY have been a SENTINEL to "check" on it. "Buck" lived in the Upper Goose Creek area, I think, and may well have been a SENTINEL to "check on it" as well. beale, you have a copy of the paper that said Munford and a few other ex-Rebs attended "Buck's" birthday party in early 1910's; they PROBABLY joked about the stuff hidden in the Hills... HA!

Rebel,
You may be jumping to conclusions on that thought. Governor Tuck was governor of Virginia in 1947. William "Extra" Billy Smith was Governor of Virginia during the Civil War. He came to Danville and stayed at Mayor Clark's House at the corner of Ridge and Main Streets. He first stayed at the home of Witcher Keen across Main Street from the Church of the Epihamy, Dr. George Washington Dame's Church.
I do however believe there are large caches of CSA Treasury gold and silver near Lynchburg along the Tennesse Railroad through and by Bufford's Depot also.

I also have much much more you sent me. I appreciate you sending me this information. The more I look the information over, the more I appreciate it. Thank you ever so much. I will get up that way to check it out soon. I sold my long range locater to someone in Illinois. I am making arrangements to borrow one that is even more powerful than the one I had. It should be able to locate any treasure --- should there be any in the area. I will check everything out from Lynchburg to Bedford City. I have already checked everything from Bedford City to Bufford's Gap and North to the Peak's of Otter. Maybe check out "New Jerusalem while I am at it? See you soon.

Yo! ;D Good to hear, beale; in Lynchburg, today... I drove by the Arlington House/Hotel on Court Street ( formerly known as WASHINGTON INN); @ "three" blocks up from the "Waterfront" which washed away in a BIG flood in the "old days". Also @ one block up from the Virginian, the OLD Marshall Lodge (FreeMasons), will probably transfer Blue Lodge membership to Marshall Lodge (oldest in Lynchburg - 1793). It is VERY nice to see "history" in-situ; I could "sense" the players from Lynchburg from that 1885 time period, and have a "new sense" of what really happened... SOME things are NOT, what they appear to be... The Beale and Associates/Confederates trip to Santa Fe area did happen; the 1885 "piece" did happen; the Civil War "piece" DID happen as a CODE; the author of the story seems to base the MAIN "piece" @ 1863... using the Beale Trip as a "cover" to hide a story within a story... re. the Brit. Loan to CSA, buried in the hills, north of Lynchburg... northern & western parts of Bedford County towards the BRP. TWO modes of transport for CSA "Assets" were... railroad... and "packet boats" like the MARSHALL, that conveyed Stonewall Jackson's body back to Lexington, Va. via the James River; there are even "legends" of CSA "assets" buried ACROSS the James River in the mountains of Amherst County... that "passed" for INDIAN MOUNDS...

Yo! ;D Gonna mow, today... "The KEY will reach you IN TIME..." hmmmmmm... sounds like a skeleton key. What "skeletons", do YOU have... in YOUR closet?!? "DARK & SWARTHY..."; MAYBE, Beale was a MELUNGEON from Western Virginia. I KNOW I have a "skeleton" in MY closet, it is MY melungeon heritage, which I am PROUD of; so MAYBE, Beale coulda been Melungeon with FreeMasonic companions, and HE was "Captain" of the Host/Associates... with Sentinels "at the door" to guard the depositories, to "see that none pass or re-pass" (discover) the TREASURE.

rebel,
A good place to look for the "KEY" would be Rock Island, Illinois. That is where Beall left his journal and where he died in 1832. Maybe the Commander in Chief of the fort kept his journals and they could still be in his descendants care? I can't remember the Fort's Commander's name but it is in "Lost Diaries of Thomas J. Beall."
Had a lot of bad luck this weekend overcame it all and it was one of the best weekends I have had in a long, long time. Do you remember the old saying, "A sailor can not became a good sailor on calm waters." Well I guess it takes bad times and bad luck to make the good things look even better. Have a great week all.

Rebel,
Sorry about not posting for the past week I have been very busy.
I do wish you would check out Robert Morriss very thoroughly while you are in Lynchburg. He was a banker as well as sat on the town council. He may have also been mayor don't know. He did help to put the ferry crossing in and later the railroad bridge. There should be plenty about him in the Masonic Lodges and their minutes. Please check them out? Many thanks one day our ship will come in?
