;D IF... "four miles from Buford's..." REALLY meant BELOW Peaks of Otter, that is congruent with what Hazlewood said to Hart about the numbers of the Codes being about a treasure buried near his home, below the Peaks of Otter (Hart Papers?). AND! Buford DID own a Farm below the P.O. (Fancy Farm?)...

Yeah told ya it's probably in a relatives cellar basement or other out building! A smart person doesn't bury valuables on public or a strangers property where some else can find t and claim it! If there is a treasure! Better say that or they will come after me! Ha!

wildfire890,
Interesting post. I don't like to jump on you early in your posting but I detect double-talk.
You say in your opening line that you can see where the treasure is buried from the Peaks of Otter. Then in your third line, "And the treasure has NOT been found. If it has not been found, how do you know where it is buried and where you can see it from the Peaks of Otter?
Not questioning you or accusing you of double-talking, I would like for you to explain, how you can say you can see where the treasure is buried and then turn right in and say that the treasure has NOT been found? Please explain.

rebel, I would like to know also what do you mean by P. Buford burying a treasure. He may have recovered a treasure, the Beale Treasure but I don't think Pauline Innis or anyone has suggested that P. Buford hid a treasure at Fancy Farm. P. Bufford did not own Fancy Farm long, he resold it, maybe he could not afford it? But, I don't see the part about burying a treasure. He did leave a kettle full of gold in the northeast corner of the mill near Buford's Tavern. A worker on the highway found it, put it in the trunk of his car, filled up with gas and he hasn't been seen since. That was back when they were widening US 460, That was the same mill that Mel Fisher did his excavating.

Yo! ;D beale, we KNOW that P.B. did own Fancy Farm for about a year... it was JUST a question... doing my work as a "detective" with investigative skills, I have from training in General Law Enforcement. Going by statements from web-sites that quoted "4 miles from Buford's..."; ALSO in the Hart Papers... Hazlewood told C. Hart that the numbers on the "sheets of papers" alluded to a treasure that was buried at the base of "Peaks of Otter, near his house" or something... I will have to find my file on the Hart Bros. BLUNTLY, it is "scary" to me, that pp base ALL their search for this "treasure" on ONE book GOLD IN THOSE HILLS by Pauline, and the "Job Print" Beale Papers. ALSO, it is probably why the BRITS focussed on Johnson Orchard for their "Telly Program" (which I have NEVER seen...). You probably have access to MORE info than I do, since I have only been doing this since 2005... and will continue to do "out of the box" thinking/research until the Beale "mystery" is solved. Sorta reminds me of an old KGC EPITAGH... They drew a circle, and shut us out. In vain, they thought they'd won by rout. But men of God, with WIT to win. Drew a LARGER circle, and shut them in. ;D

Yo! ;D Found the HART PAPERS... bealesolved.tripod.com/id10.html3rd paragraph; "Curosity impelled Clayton (Hart) to ask Mr. Hazlewood what the Figures (numbers on sheets of papers),... could mean... Mr. Hazlewood stated that they were connected with a treasure said to have been buried some four score years before near the foot (base) of the Peaks of Otter... etc., etc.".... STILL looking for the "history of ownership" of Fancy Farm; I THINK P.B. owned it almost a year, 1822; MAY have to go back the the B.C. Library, to MAKE SURE.

Yo! ;D Found SOME info of "interest"... from P.V.'s book, THE BEALE TREASURE, NEW HISTORY OF A MYSTERY, p.87, 1/3 way down page... There has been a growing belief, that the treasure is not located within four miles of Monvale, but instead is some ten miles to the EAST, near the Peaks of Otter.... Letter of 1822 from Beale to MORRISS is important; At that time, Paschal Buford was a man of substance; his holdings included a tavern, water mills, his own home, and a LARGE plantation with an elegant house. This plan- tation, known as FANCY FARM, was far from his tavern --- about ten miles EAST... The house is at the base of the Peaks of Otter, in the rural community of Kelso Mill, some five miles NORTH of the city of Bedford (today).... FANCY FARM is NOT the "site" of the Treasure, only the "refer- ence point" (ie. "four miles from Buford's'...)

Yo! ;D Wife & I drove up to the Peaks of Otter, today; passed Kelso Mill... saw LOTS of "old" roads, going up to the "Peaks". At P. O., I hiked to the site of the Mons Hotel, and Johnson Farm; "jumped" two deers... BEAUTIFUL!!! All that was on Rt. 43, going NORTH from Bedford City; next wanna "check out" Rt. 122 going NORTH of Bedford City, to OLD Bedford County Lake (privately owned now... at BASE of mountain). I read SOMEWHERE, that B.T. is buried near "Bedford Lake"; MAY be "connected' to the LION'S HEAD... hmmmmmmmm...

Yo! ;D haven't gone to Bedford Lake, yet... BUT! am reading P. V. 's THE PEAKS OF OTTER, LIFE & TIMES; "Fancy Farm became a LANDMARK for travelers...", p. 58, bottom of page. "(James) JOPLING AND Major Mack Otey decided to sell Fancy Farm to Otey's son-in-law (Paschal) Buford, for $19,200 in 1820. Paschal held it briefly...", p. 66, middle of page. "Pic" of Paschal Buford, page 82, top of page. Appears to be a "light-skin" black person OR... MELUNGEON. White hat, white hair, light "dark" skin; looks like @ 1867. Did you know Robert E. Lee was a friend of P. B.? I didn't... Pg. 113 - 114; "In 1867, the most admired of all Vir- ginians, Robert E. Lee, visited the Peaks of Otter, with his daughter, Miss Milddred.... From there, they rode to Bufordville (now Monvale) to visit at Locust Level with an old friend, PASCHAL BUFORD." Ha!! The "PLOT" thickens... was the old REB checking on the "REBEL ASSETS"... visiting an old friend, who helped "conceal", NEVER "reveal" it; with FANCY FARM being the ''centerpoint" within "4 miles of Buford's" as a ''landmark" on the "old road" to Buchannon (today's Rt. 43 NORTH)? ;D

Yo! ;D Doing R & D, with "High-Test" by my side... ;D For Rt. 122, going NORTH of Bedford City; The Bedford Lake (formerlly Bedford County P & R Lake, NOW privately owned...), is at the BASE of SUCK MOUNTAIN, and SOUTH WEST of Read Creek, near Big Island, Va. So... MAYBE, the "creek" flowing EAST... BEYOND the "landmark" of SHARP TOP (P.O.)... going into Apple Valley. etc. (firing up "4-wheeler" now... ); ;D LOL, just joking... . SUCK MOUNTAIN is ONE mountain ridge, EAST of Sharp Top (P.O.); in THAT area were the RICH families of WRIGHT, PANNILL:, & MARSHALL. Did THEY find it?

rebel,
Apple Valley, a lot of people believe that is where the families lived that buried the Beale Treasure. You forgot the Overstreets and the tavern that burned on the mountain near Apple Orchard Overlook? One well known treasure hunter believes the treasure is somewhere around the overlook?
