There is a new book called "Midwest Gold Prospecting" that discusses glacial gold, diamonds, native copper and other heavy minerals for anyone who is interested: www.midwestprospector.com/

I checked the Mindat database and found no listing for gold ( www.mindat.org/loc-14607.html) but that's not to say it's not there... just that nobody has reported any finds to Mindat. I'd suggest that the best place to ask the question would be in the Mindat Forum. If anyone can help you, they can.

Living in central ill is it possible there be could gold ,I had a old timmer say it,s possible. And he,s not a detector. This is a glacial rock deposit map. The darker the yellow the larger the rocks. Gold could be with any, but large rocks large gold usually. Find a place with dark yellow and where the rock has been exposed, road cuts, pits, rivers-streams that cut into the rock. Central IL is a big area, a point on the map would help for a more detail map. 64.118.85.10/~btiau//tmp/GrockIL.jpg
