BEDFORD BULLETIN---May 14, 2008
One of two original "Job Print Pamphlet" was sold in thousands of dollars. The other original in the Marshall Library. This is the same pamphlet that was copied by Peter Viemeister and placed in his book, "The Beale Treasure, A History of a Mystery."
The article does not mentioned the buyer nor the seller. I know the name of the seller but I will not reveal it, since this article did not reveal it. But anyway I thought you the Beale Treasure Hunters might want to get a copy of the article from the newspaper.

BEDFORD BULLETIN 14 MAY 2008
ORIGINAL "Beale Papers" sold
Last week one of the two known surviving original, 23-page "Beale Papers" pamphlet was sold, reportedly for several thousand dollars, to a private party.
With the ciphers describing where a treasure was located in Bedford County, the "Beale Papers" has challenged treasure hunters ever since it was published in Lynchburg in 1885.
The other copy is in the George Marshall Library in Lexington. Unfortunately it has some blank areas in the cipher pages.
More than two decades ago, Bedford historian Peter Viemeister tracked down a Lynchburg resident who had owned the good pamphlet for decades. He was thrilled to hold it in his hands. At the time, the owner did not wish to sell it nor have it leave the house. Viemeister bought a portable Canon copier and came back to copy it there.
He spent some effort cleaning up specks and then reproduced the complete photocopy in his copyright book "Beale Treasure-History of a Mystery." There have since been TV specials about the Beale Treasure on Unsolved Mysteries, Travel Channel, Fox TV, History Channel, BBC, and even a Korean network. Seekers who are content with an accurate copy, instead of the expensive original, can get the 1987 book from Hamilton's in Bedford.
Before the pamphlet was sold last week, Viemeister examined it and confirmed that it is indeed the very document he had reporduced in decades ago.
Now, after years and years of quiet rest in a private home, this "Beale Papers," probably the only surviving complete specimen of the 1885 press run, has moved to a new, secure, but unrevealed hiding place.
Any typing mistakes are my own but this is what the newspaper said.

Peter V. e-mails me of any news on the Beale Treasure in the area. I received this from him last night and posted it this morning. The headline had 14 May, 2008, Bedford Bulletin. I tried the web-site you posted, it has a lot of pop-ups and a lot of other junk on it-------so I did not open it. Not your fault, I was just telling others in the case they want to read it in the Bedford Bulletin. Thanks.

The original copy was never sent to the Library of Congress. Pauline Innis found the paper requesting a copyright from James B. Ward but the book itself was never sent.

THANKS, Bill... how's Melinda? ;D HA! NO original copies in Jones Memorial Library; haven't looked in Marshall Museum. Robert Morris, Mayor of Lynchburg IS buried in Old City Cementery and died 11/11/1822. Sarah Morriss WAS listed in "obit" in LYNCHBURG VIRGINIAN; ONLY saying she died May 11, 1861; NO "site" of burial is indicated (this was in May 21, 1861 "obit"). NOTHING on Robert MORRISS. "Buck" investigation is still "on- going"... NOTHING in JML. JML said BT is buried ALL over Virginia... I told 'em... PROBABLY IS! It is the CSA TREASURY... they looked at me as if I had "lost my mind". Let me clarify... after Richmond fell, the REBS in L'burg put $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ in a safe on a wagon, and headed for the hills (L'burg was capital of VIRGINIA, then or SOMETHING). RICHMOND was capital of CSA, at the time, and "treasures" came west on the V & T Rail- road... beale knows that story... and PV. FreeMason's SAFE HOLE must have been in that cave on the bluffs, above Abert, Va.; LATER, either returned to L'burg... OR, moved elsewhere. It COULD be Bedford County... closer to VMI in Lexington, Va. I am getting a "headache" pondering all this... signing off; 10-4!

Rebel, Are you sure about the date that Robert Morriss died, or is that a typo? I thought he died in 1863? Good research you are doing. A lady you will find reference to in Peter V's book, a Mrs. McVeigh was the one that owned a copy of the original "Job Print Pamphlet."

;D Ahh! THAT'S the point, beale... I said Robert MORRIS, Mayor of Lynchburg, is buried in OCC, DOD: 5/11/1822. Can't find ANYTHING on Robert Morriss NOR Sarah Morriss burial "sites". In the "Job Print", Robert MORRISS is stated to have died in 1863; Mrs. McVeigh must have the Ward descendant, alluded to. JML thinks 'tis all a hoax... I think, it is a REBEL "thing". THINK! From Richmond, Va. by train (V & T); then it COULDA been on a "packet boat" or two... up the James River, to VMI/Lexington, Va. (like they did, with the body of Gen. "Stonewall" THOMAS JACKSON (ALMOST Thomas Jefferson - TJ). LOTS of caves along the James River, especially Abert, Holcomb Rock, Coleman Falls, Big Island (HOME of "BEAR" TOLLEY!), etc. OR... V & T RR along Blackwater Creek towards Forest (HOME of TT MUNFORD!), Lowry, Liberty (Bedford City), Thaxton, Buford's (Monvale), etc. to Big Lick (Roanoke); down to BRISTOL, Va./TENN., etc. WELL... next stop for my "BUCK" INVESTIGATION is Bedford County Library, & Bedford Museum, to research W.T. Wright.

So what you are saying or tryint not to say is that Robert Morriss, Mayor of Lynchburg existed but Robert Morriss married to Sarah Mitchell was made up by a writer?
I think the Beale Treasure is completely different from the treasures of the CSA. I do believe there is a lot of CSA Treasure in the areas of Danville, Roanoke and Lynchburg. When Sherman was burning Columbia, SC the treasury department of the CSA that was stationed there were removed to Lynchburg to continue printing CSA Notes.
I think to solve this mystery I need to check my vaults out I have found and either find something in them that will confirm the Beale Treasure. That is about the only way I know to confirm the treasures existence. If you happen to go by Montvale Library, check out the CD Book, "Lost Diary of Thomas J. Beall"Thanks

beale, what I "said" was, Robert MORRIS is NOT Robert MORRISS; Robert MORRISS was NEVER mayor of Lynchburg, Va. BUT! Robert MORRIS was; and is buried in OCC. There is NOTHING... on burial "sites" for Robert/Sarah MORRISS; COULD be "family plots" somewhere else... BUT! NOT in public cementeries. I HAVE found Max Guggenheimer, TT Munford (NOT in "JOB PRINT")... looking for James B. Ward. I think BEALE/BEALL TREASURE is a totally different "quest" than the CSA TREASURY, too. I WILL check out yer "TOME"; will even buy it and the ones on the CSA TREASURY, soon... gotta make sure, my "modem" can accept 'em. ;D

The CD's are in "Microsoft Word" most computers except them. There is another type of computer Peter V said his was but I can't remember the name of it. Peter said there were about 6 million of his type whatever that is, but for the most part about all newer computers work fine with microsoft word, even the computers in the libraries and court houses.
If you go to Montvale Public Library see if the CD Book, "Lost Diary of Thomas J. Beall" works on their computer and then see if your computer is "microsoft" compatible-------most are. Talk to you later. Albert
