;D STARBUCKS! Lloyd James Beall - wiki-pedia, page 2; "Thanks, in part, to Beall's efforts, the Confederate Marines gained a repu- tation for distinguished combat service, on the sea and land. After THE CONFEDERATE WAR... (WHERE, have I read THAT... before?), he lived in RICHMOND, Virginia, (BUSINESS in RICHMOND?), and kept most of the Confederate States Marine Corps. records at his home. Much of this history, along with BEALL'S personal history, was destroyed in a FIRE."

The CSMC were guards for President Jefferson Davis and the CSA Treasury on it's way south. A lot of these veteran soldiers were elite and a lot of them was from Missouri. The CSA Government had them picked by their commanding officers much like the Green Berets of today. 100 men we'll test today but only one will be a green beret.
Interesting subject rebel, keep it coming.
The US Army did not start the Marines until 1887 or some time around that date. Over 22 years after the Civil War. Some CSA General must have started the Corp and it most likely was founded by REL, himself?

;D I think USMC was established by Continental Congress in November, 1776; the Marines fought with Gen. Jackson at New Orleans, and MANY CSMC Marines, were former USMC. Don't think REL had anything to do with it, since HE died in 1870. I read that AFTER J. Davis was captured in Georgia, trying to get to TEXAS, MOST Rebels went "underground", becoming OUTLAWS of the "wild west", or simply REBEL UNDERGROUND. Jeff Davis County in TEXAS is "supposed" to be a "hotbed" & "treasure trove". I DO know that TEXAS was "KGC ZONE". ;D

;D STARBUCKS! Yer correct, beale; CSA Marines were MORE like "Special Forces"; the "offical" uniforms were similar to CSA Army. The regular CSA Army wore Light Blue pants (offical/fancy "meetings"); the CSA Marines wore WHITE pants, under their "Field Grey" jackets... since "they" were part of CSA NAVY. I just never really "paid attention" to it all, before. HA! I was KING "civil war" freak/nerd in 6th grade... knew EVERYTHING about "land battles" in Virginia... went to ALL the battlefields in the Shenandoah Valley... fought in re-enactments in my early 20's. Harper's Ferry... New Market... Aberdeen, Md.; "war games" in the mountains, above Elkton, Va. GETTYSBURG! A VERY, VERY, haunted place! Ahhh... da MEMORIES... (SUNNY out...). ;D
