;D STARBUCKS! (with x-mas spices...) Wonder what Beale's/Beall's Christmas's were like those two years he was in Lynchburg? Looking at "old" Christmas traditions of "back then"... PARTIES, GOOD DRNKS, GOOD FOOD, & DANCING with LOTS OF GOOD MUSIC! Looking at Christmas at MONTICELLO, gives you a "sense" of those "good old days"... ;D MERRY CHRISTMAS to ALL... and to ALL, A HAPPY, PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR! (SUNNY & WARMER out!).

You are so right rebel. Back in those days they celebrated Christmas the way they lived, social like. People today never meet, sit down and talk, have parties---dance or social gatherings. NO today all they want is a remote control, television, and the couch.-------or an easy chair in front of the computer. I noticed about 30 years ago everyone distancing their selfs from others. That is mainly the reason for social unrest, untrusting, greedy and the selfish that are creating all of the financial problems we have today. If we all shared with other, give each other a helping hand when needed or asked for-------this would be a whole lot better world to live in. Everyone I know of and come into contact with are not concerned about the economy in particular they are concerned about number ONE and with greed and selfishness take over the world it is no wonder we have the problems we do.
Here is a simple thought which religion and the world as a whole could benefit from.
"You take a ten dollar bill. Put it away for safe keeping; keep it for say ten years. The cost of living will have gone up so much that that ten dollars won't even by you fifty cents worth of good ten years from now. But on the other hand -----If you take that same ten dollars and give it to someone that is in need and later he returns the favor to someone else in need the ten dollars---------after that ten dollars has been given to different individuals that needed help and it changes hands say a million times, You know what that ten dollars has accompolished $10,000,000. worth of GOOD. Now isn't $10,000,000. for the GOOD better than the selfish saving of ten dollars that may be worth $.50 fifty cents. That is what the Bible teaches, "It is better to give than receive." You all have a Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year, 2009 and let us get this economy thriving once again by stop being greedy and selfish and give all that you can, when you can. Albert

kydave,
You are definitely on the right track. Other than buying a couple personal items for my brother and I and sending a couple small unwrapped gifts through the mail and giving a few dollars to my brothers that are on fixed incomes, I have did very little. I want to do millions and millions but our job is just about wiped out. My brother that lives with me was layed off in July after several medical bills and with only about four weeks of unemployment left. My job has slowed to almost nothing. I work maybe 40 % of what I use to do.At our companies peak output we had over 545 employees, we are now below 100 and the company is planning more cutbacks. But, I have no complaints. I do the best I can, I treasure hunt mostly by researching and when I get a good lead, I save enough to make a trip to search it out. It was the same way when I raced we were at our financial limits but it was fun just to see if we could do it and we always did and had 34 feature wins to our credit and the 1998 LMSC Championship at FCS.
My whole life I have wanted to help others but it seems I can barely help myself. I hope to turn all of this around next year when I start my "TRY" year or "Treasure Recovery Year." Several operations for recovery have already been put in place---one in January and another in February with others to follow.
Well, I certainly hope everyone had a Merry Christmas yesterday and I hope the New Year brings glad tidings and good fortunes. Santa hasn't been to my house for about five years now. I know he came to our house when I was about 10 years old in 1963 or 1964. "We had very little in the house to eat when Christmas came that year-------I can remember it so plain it was as only yesterday. We were on a small government check of less than $67. a month, with coal to buy as fuel, rent on the house, electricity, two parents and six of kids at home----five going to school------I honestly today can not see how my father and mother kept us together all those years.
But anyway, late that night we heard a knock at the front door. My dad and I were the first two to the door. There at the base of the door was three or four boxes of groceries and toys for us children. A snow had fallen that night, the sky had now cleared and the moon was almost full with almost over 4 to 5 inches of snow on the ground. There was a turn around spot or dead end road in front of our house. There were no foot prints and there was no tire tracks where any vehicle had turned around. How did those groceries and toys get there? Santa is the only explanation I could ever come up with. I mean I walked around the house searching for footprints and there was none. Happy New Year to all. Albert

;D HA! You have just revealed THE LAW OF ATTRACTION; ''like-minded" pp (people) attract... like a football team... a Masonic Lodge... a geniune church based on G*d, Jesus... etc.
