;D STARBUCKS! Doing family research on Buford, Ward families; Morriss seems to be name of "free Blacks" in Lynchburg, according to FREE BLACKS OF LYNCHBURG, VIRGINIA: 1805 - 1865 by Ted Delaney & Phillip Wayne Rhodes. beale, I will send you copies of what I got via "slow mail", in a few days. "Pix" of P. Buford in P.V.'s book, THE PEAKS OF OTTER: LIFE & TIMES, page 82 DOES show a person of "mix", like a MULATTO.

;D Oh, I think you know MORE, than you give yourself credit for. Looking at 1885 date of "Job Print", it appears that the MORRISS "name" was utilized by MANY "free Blacks". David, Eliza Ann, James, JAMES W., James William, John, John Mc., Mary, Mary Jane Preston, Mitchell, Sawney, Walden, Waldren, William... NO Robert NOR Sarah. I DID find James B. Ward; NOT sure if he was Mullato, or just owned slaves, which MAY be WHY he was suspended by his Masonic Lodge, DUNNO.
