;D Yes, Bro., they did... animal paths by creeks started trails, which became "roads"... and landowners were responsible for "maintenance" (up-keep). EVENTUALLY, the individual states "took over" the maintenance... THEN, the FEDS! (Gotta "steer" 'em away from "sites of interest"...). HENCE, "THE BY-PASS"! We DO have a BUFFALO ROAD in Amherst County, NORTH of Lynchburg, Va. Aka Rt. 60, it goes past FORK OF THE BUFFALO (RIVER)... REALLY a CREEK! ANYWAY, it goes beyond Amherst County, Va. crosses the BRP (FEDS), into Rockbridge County, where Natural Bridge is... FORMERLY, owned by Thomas Jefferson, and where BEAR Tolley lived in the mountains (PURGATORY), NORTH of Big Island, Va. in Bedford County. NOW! Purgatory Mountain is interesting... BECAUSE, at the BASE of that mountain, is where the BEALE FAMILY had a "plantation" along the James River... you can see it from the PURGATORY MOUNTAIN over-look, on the BRP. A bridge crosses that area, and I saw a BIG RIG (aka "18 wheeler") cross over that bridge. IF... TJ Beale grew up there... he PROBABLY "hiked" that mountain, found a few caves; hint... hint. ;D

;D More R & I; Purgatory Mountain has an OVER-LOOK TOWER! ;D Thomas Mountain (nearby), is in ARCADIA, Va.; it has ARCADIA VA MOUNTAIN BIKE TRAIL! Bro. kydave; CODE-WORD: "SPRIG OF ARCADIA" (ALSO spelled as "SPRIG OF ACACIA"); in the Beale Treasure story, wasn't GOLD discovered by the Beale Party when someone saw a Yellow/Gold glint from the Sun... reaching that area... pulling on a ACACIA plant, revealing RAW gold?

Rebel,
Ron had another post about a letter from a code breaker in 1938 to Clayton Hart-----the file was corrupt and I had to delete it. If Ron could post a better connection, I would like to see the letter.

Gentlemen: OK, Beale, I won't take it personally. I thought somebody didn't want your visitors to see it. One last kick at the can. Perhaps you will believe this source. Elizabeth Friedman was the wife of Col. William Friedman of WW2 code-breaking fame. She was a famed code-breaker on her own and worked closely with her husband on many projects including Beale. In 1938, Clayton Hart wrote to her asking her opinion on the Beale codes. The following letter (from the Col. Wm Friedman archives at the George C. Marshall Foundation library) is her reply to Hart. www.angelfire.com/pro/bealeciphers/Graphics/Hart_Letter.pdfIf the link doesn't work, paste this in your browser: www.angelfire.com/pro/bealeciphers/Graphics/Hart_Letter.pdf

;D Thank you BOTH! I knew E.F. reviewed the Beale pamphlet, and concluded it was a "pirate map" forgery from the "olden days". I read that the Marshall Museum in Lexington, Va. had a copy of the pamphlet, (haven't seen it, yet). NOTE: she said the "story" was contrived as a "hoax", based on the Beale Expedition CODES 1, 2, & 3. She was ALSO the EXPERT on the Baconian Ciphers, and there is an "on-line" library from the Marshall Museum, that indicates such. NOW! It was ALL based on the CODES, and NOT the subsequent investigations since 1885. AND! She was in the SPY BUSINESS! HER statement to C. Hart, COULD have been DISINFORMATION to deter further "investigations"; since, she and her husband were "connected" with George C. Marshall and HENCE, VMI... it ONLY strengtens MY CSA "assets" theory. www.marshallfoundation.org/ ;D PIRATE MAP! HA! There is NO MAP, in the "Job Print"; MAYBE Thom. J. Beale WAS Jean LaFitte, after all... NAHHH!

Well if "it" being the answers, yes. Have I yet to prove it, no. One day while you are still working on these CSA "assets" theories you will see that a Michigan man finds lost Beale Treasure.....Dam Yankee!!!
