;D YEP! Stories are "here & there"... WESTERN Bed- ford County, in JEFFERSON NATIONAL FOREST - BLUE RIDGE PARKWAY; OLD Fincastle, Va. "turn-pike" that BUCK Wright travelled "to & from" Fincastle, Va. with his dog, Tippy. It is ALL now FED land, and the "TURN PIKE" is NOW... a US FOREST ROAD. Gonna hike it and take "Pics" soon... SHHHHH! NORTH Botetort County (Pugatory Mountain area?), where BAR/Bear Tol- ley lived "above" NATURAL BRIDGE (WEST of Big Island, Va.), PRO- BABLY in GEORGE WASHINGTON NATIONAL FOREST (?). ALSO FED! Hike and take "pics", folks... I think BOTH "mountain men" were SENTINELS!

rebel,
I would first go to Bedford County Clerk's Office and find the deed to Buck Wright's property. It was located a little south of the road that goes down the mountain to Buchannon. Bear Tolley lived further north near the Apple Valley Overlook. Good Luck. The deeds might give you a location of their properties? Albert

;D Well, that's the thing... Buck lived 6 miles EAST of Buchanan, on the Counties lines, so it COULD be either Bedford OR Botetourt. The "pic" of him stated he was heading to Fincastle, Va., on the "old stage road" (turnpike); NOW ... a US Forest Service Road. I think BAR/Bear's place was in the mountains NORTH of Big Island, Va. in Botetourt County. STILL doing R & I on 'em.

Buck's daughter and son-in-law lived in Bedford County, I thought maybe they gave him the land or Buck could have given them their land? Don't know without checking the land records?
