I found this article in the New York Times Newspaper, April 15, 1879, I thought everyone would enjoy this? THE ASSETS OF THE CONFEDERACY Morton Commandery, No. 4, Knights Templar, was the recipient last evening of a very appropriate present from James G. Bain, Grand Commander of the Masonic Fraternity of the State of Virginia. It consisted of 15 finely executed jewels, one for each of the officers of the commandery. The jewel intended for the Eminent Commander contains all the assets of the Southern Confederacy at the time of the fall of Richmond. The assets were two $20 gold pieces and $28 in silver, found in the Treasury of the Confederacy when the Union troops entered Richmond. The coins have been made into an elegant badge or jewel of office, which is to be worn hereafter by the Eminent Commander of Morton Commandery, No. 4. It is of gold, with a raised cross and crown valued at $260. The presentation was made at the reception of Palestine Commandery in the Academy of Music last evening in behalf of Grand Commander Bain by Generalissimo John R. Scott.

THAT is right INTERESTING, beale. KT ( Knights Templar) were a SEPARATE "branch" from FREEMASONRY, in general... although a PART of the YORK RITE. It does NOT surprise me that the CSA "stuff" was utilized for KT in the north, AFTER the CW. ONE theory about the KGC (Knights of the Golden Circle), is that "Rebel" sympathizers in the BL, RAM, KT from the northern states had "codes" in their lodges, chapters and commander- ries in the "forms" of TRESTLE BOARDS, TRACING BOARDS, and "Lodge" rugs of some sort... that "indicated" where to "look for" "Rebel Assets"; STILL looking into it. Reviewing LOTS of the TRESTLE BOARDS, TRACING BOARDS, etc from @ 1865 - @ 1910.

He said i "know" they do!!! I said how would you know that? No answer, only a grin ;D I will pressure him again on this matter, like "pulling hens teeth" as they say around here getting that kind of info! Ha! His house by the way is a 19 room museum with a Cannon in the front yard!

;D ANYWAY, waiting on my "approval" from local KT Commandery; MAYBE this year (2011). Found ORIGINAL KT NUMERAL Code from book THE KNIGHTS TEMPLAR IN THE NEW WORLD (USA/America); 12 = a; 11 = b; 10 = c; 9 = d; 8 = e; 7 = f; 6 = g; 5 = h; 4 = i & j; 3 = k; 2 = l; 1 = m; 13 = n; 14 = o; 15 = p; 16 = q; 17 = r; 18 = s; 19 = t; 20 = u & v; 21 = w; 22 = x; 23 = y, 24 = z (pg 132-133). The "problem" I have is that it is the ENGLISH alphabet; seeing that i & j, u & v are like the OLD BRIT usage... MUST "predate" AMERICAN "English". Hmmm...
