I am trying to determine the identity of the pink mineral that is clustered at the top of this specimen. The base is quartz, and this was found in the tailings of the old silver mines just north of Fredericktown, Missouri. The two most prominent and 90 degree offset crystals are less than 1/2 inch long each.

Could be dolomite or calcite. You should see if it effervesces with a drop of HCL
