Hello. My son has always been interested in science & the outdoors. He is almost grown now & one of the things I have always wanted to do with him is to go dig somewhere....maybe take the metal detector...maybe just dig for stones. Any ideas in central Texas? I am between San Antonio & Austin. Thanks!

go on line and Google treasures for the San Antonio and Austin, Texas areas. I am sure there are hundreds of caches in and around these areas. I read one story where they were renovating downtown San Antonio and they found an 1855 one dollar gold coin---------today this one coin is valued at $45,000. Check all of the old way stations for stagecoach robbery or Indian Attack caches. In a way I envy where you live. Myself I would just love to put a metal detector to the ground in areas such as where you live. You never know what you may find. Albert

Thanks, Albert. I haven't taken my metal detector out seriously. We used to live in Corpus & we would just play around with it at the beach (founds LOADS of pull tabs!). I know there are permissions & whatnot that you have to get, but I would love to find some cool areas that we won't have to jump through hoops to play around on.
I also got interested in geocaching a couple of years ago. I tried to get my family involved, too. My son was the only one even slightly interested! We may pick that back up, too!
