Hi guys. I'm new to the site and this is my first thread. My name is Rob Campbell and I practice a unique form of treasure hunting in Ontario Canada I'm a dumpdigger, and I write a blog called Dumpdiggers
This week I blogged about two 'tailgate loads' of historic glass bottles that were found by excavators on the site of what used to be lake Ontario opposite the Rees' Pier in 1837. Some of the bottles found date from the 1850s The Roberston is now the property of a famous lake shore reed switch that's a boat in the harbour run by Captain Ted, a friend of mine. The cobalt blue Pilgrim soda and Commercial Ink Co bottles are sweet indeed and will bring the best prices. How much are they worth? I dont even know and wouldnt care to guess. What do you think? I know one hidden gem was this 1870 beer bottle embossed Brayn Bros, this piece is key to the history of Hornby Ontario and there's a story here - its a puzzle how a Hornby beer bottle ended up down here at the base of Toronto, or perhaps testament to the quality and distribution of Brayn Bros Lager Beer in the early 1870s. Have a read and let me know your thoughts.

Hi Rob, A lot of good looking bottles there. I have dug old bottles up around the edges of dumps. I found some really old ones, the only problem once they hit air they would crumble in my hands. Your bottles must have been beneath mud and silt to keep them preserved that well. I have dug similar bottles only they had different names. I like the blue and green the best and then I would like the clear glass that looked like rainbow colors. Keep us updated should any of those bottles are extremely rare and worth a lot of money. The fun is in the hunt. I sure enjoyed it but that has been about thirty years ago. We did dig some old bottles from a 22 foot deep well about 13 years ago---------we were looking for treasure at the time. Some of these bottles dated to the 1880's. Good luck and keep us up to date. Check those bottles carefully should one be corked still, it may contain a treasure map or silver and gold.
