I found a beautiful piece of quartz embedded with gold and gorgeous rubies. So... Any tips on how I can clean it without dislodging the rubies?

That would be hard to clean without destroying it as I have never heard of the two occurring together in quartz. Some of the rock hounds on here may help you but I don't think gold and rubies appear together in quartz? I may be wrong. I do know you can find gold with red garnets but I don't think gold is found with rubies naturally in the Earth. Post a picture so we can see what you are talking about.

Thanks for the welcome! It doesn't take long for hounding to become obsessive!! I'll post a picture soon, but I'm currently trying to recover accidentally deleted files from my camera (oops!).
I've wondered if it might be garnet instead of rubies, but after doing much googling, I still can't help but believe they really are rubies. Actually, here in GA, miners long ago ran into much corundum.. Or so they say!
