I found out today who Sarah Mitchell's father and mother were, also where her parents came from in Maryland.
Sarah Mitchell was born in 1778 in Bedford County, Virginia. Her father was John Isaac Mitchell born 06 Nov 1737 in Baltimore County, Maryland, son of William Mitchell and Elizabeth Elliott. Her mother was Ann Greer born between 1744 and 1750 in Baltimore County, Maryland. Her mother being the daughter of John Greer and Sarah Ann Elliott.
To prove that this is the correct Sarah Mitchell that married Robert Morris of Lynchburg, Virginia in Campbell County.
Hannah Mitchell married Shadrach Brown and they were the parents of Angelina M. Brown that married John Buford Otey. "Their daughter, Harriet Emaline Otey married James Beverly Ward in St. Louis, Missouri." This would make Sarah Mitchell Morris the "great Aunt" of Harriet Emaline Otey.
This proof lies in the Late Peter Viemeister's research and his books he wrote on the Beale Treasure. He said that Angelina M. Brown that married John Buford Otey referred to Sarah Mitchell as "aunt Sarah"
Sarah Mitchell and Hannah Mitchell were both daughters of John Mitchell.
Now since Angelina Brown's mother and Sarah Mitchell that married Robert Morris were sisters then this would make Sarah Mitchell -------Angelina M. Brown's "AUNT"
These are Beale Treasure Facts and I hope to post more facts when I find them. Since, Robert Morris was from Maryland and Sarah Mitchell's parents were from Baltimore County, Maryland-----maybe just maybe Robert Morris' genealogy can be found there.

I believe a good place to start looking for Sarah Mitchell and Robert Morris' grave would be on the old John Mitchell homestead, since Sarah died first and then Robert? I am going to try and find it. From now on I am only going to trace the facts ------- all of the codes and everything else leads in the wrong direction.
Robert Morris was a partner with Captain James Dunnington, they had been in the merchantile business in Lynchburg from around 1803. The letters and records on the Internet say from 1803 to 1809 but I know they were partners until James Dunnington died in 1821. James Dunnington was from Charles County, Maryland, another location to hunt for Robert Morris' being born?

;D YEP! According to the News-Virginian, Sarah died at 77 years, on May 21, 1861. Robert died in 1863, according to the BEALE PAPERS. Good Luck & HH! Either they have her age wrong or her birthday wrong because if she was born in 1778 and died in 1861, she would have been either 82 or 83 years old depending on the month she was born. May need further research but this one sure bit the bill.

Robert Morriss dying at the home of his niece has sent me on several searches. For David Saunder's wife to be his niece would mean that his wife's mother would have to be Robert Morriss' sister. But so far I have not found that to be the case.
Also David Saunders could be the "Author" of the Beale Treasure Pamphlet story? David left Lynchburg for Richmond where he was on the City Council for over 18 years and 14 years he was head councilman. He was also head councilman of Richmond during the Civil War and he was made Mayor by the Yankee Government when they took Richmond over. David Saunders had a son David Saunders Jr. and he was also old enough to have taken care of Robert Morriss in Lynchburg. It could have been either one of these two David Saudners that could have been the "Author"
Also you must remember Robert Morriss' words when he turned the story over to the "Agent" He said he invited him into his room. He did not say he was invited over to the house and then came to his room. The way it is stated it seems as though it was already someone of the household.

David Saunders, Sr. was Mayor of Richmond, Virginia from April, 1865 to April, 1866. He was also in the merchantile business as was Robert Morriss. He was over the Board for the Farmer's Merchants Bank in Richmond which was also over the branch Farmer's Merchants Bank of Lynchburg, Virginia that Robert Morriss was one of it's Board members. As for the City Council 18 years means he would have been a member from 1843 to 1861 and he was Chairman of the City Council from 1861 to 1865. Then of course he became Mayor of Richmond, Virginia.
David Saunders Jr. died at the home of David Saunders, Sr in 1872 at the age of 33 or 34 and Senior died one year later in 1873. You can find the precise dates on the Internet. Junior would most likely have been too young to keep Robert Morriss but he could have been taking care of him in Lynchburg, Virginia while his father was away at the War in Richmond? Senior could have been visiting Junior and Robert Morriss during the Second Year of the Confederate War and was called back to Richmond, Virginia for a vote of the City Council since he was the Chairman.

;D MAYBE! Will research banks in Lynchburg, Va. in existence at the time of the Beale Expedition; or should I look at the CONFEDERATE WAR "period"? It DOES sound like Robert MORRIS, former Mayor of Lynchburg, Va., as he WAS listed in early Lynchburg, Va. history as being VERY busy as you mentioned. Haven't found ANY personal info on Robert MORRIS, former Mayor of Lynchburg, Va. (wife, kid , etc.).

Rebel, Anything that can be found about Robert Morriss can only be found at the courthouse and their records. City Records and County Records need to be checked.
I know between 1809 and 1819 Robert Morriss made 31 land transactions. In the first five years or so he spent over $50,000. That's like $50 Million dollars today. Where did his fortune come from and where did he come from. Yes, this Robert Morriss was the Mayor of Lynchburg, Virginia sometime around 1813 while his partner James Dunnington was Captain of a militia unit during the War of 1812. As I said James Junnington died in 1821. His son Frank went on to be a rich tobacconist in the Farmville area. And James Dunnington was from Charles County, Maryland. Also Robert Morriss says he was born in Maryland in 1778, Robert Morriss that signed the DOI was in Maryland laying low between 1777 to 1779 could Robert Morriss have been his son and heir?

DUNNO. www.gennotes.150m.com/morris.html Genealogical Notes & Anecdotes: Descendants of Andrew Morris (about 1685-1728). Ha! There is even a Robert MORRIS III!
