For all of you that believe the Beale saga occured during or after the Civil War i have noticed while doing a lot of CW research that most of the camps were made about four miles from the nearest town. You wouldn't believe how many times i've ran accross that in reports and diarys. Is there a connection here maybe?

Hi kydave, rebel and all posters.
kydave, four miles was usually the distance most armies camped outside of town. Jefferson Davis camped about four miles East of Lexington, North Carolina. It seems all bodies of armies did this unless they were an occupying army. Then they stayed in town at the best hotels.
I have did some searching around the Fancy Farm Area, rebel. But, I have not searched any South of Bedford. It will be a while before I get a chance. I am quite busy at the present. I located $40,000 in gold coins last Saturday before last and this past Suncay I located I believe the $35,000 in gold left by Micajah Clark for President Davis and his Cabinet. We plan an excavation next Sunday for one of these. I have also located three super depositories of the CSA. I haven't read any of the Knights of the Golden Circle books either. I researched these on my own, which is usually the best method. Whether there is anything left or whether it was all used up during the Reconstruction, I guess we will find out some day.
I hope to see you soon, Rebel. kydave, If I am ever successful on one of these hunts, I will be down to look for that cannon you told me of. Good luck to all.

Yo! Rebel here: ;D Yep, Beale... sounds good!!! Did u know, the US Gov't removed GOLD from World's Trade Center after 9-11 It was from BIG Canadian Bank... they had armed guards.. and all, according to another treasure hunters' site... did u also know, that the Rebs helped create Canadian Constitution after C.W. AND lots of KGC GOLD was deposited in a "Super" up there AND there may be a "connection" (GOLD) between the CSA/KGC/Canadian GOLD found at WTC LGA !!!! Where did all da GOLD for Fort Knox come from ?!!!

Code Paper Number 2 that was deciphered and placed in the Job Print Pamphlet in 1883 said that the treasure was four miles from Bufford's. That being said we know Bufford's later became Buford's Depot and later Montvale, so the treasure should be four miles either from Bufford's (a town) or Buford's Ordinary or tavern located on the south fork of Goose Creek That should be where the four miles distance comes in to play I would think but then what do I know?
Is treasurenet forum still up and running-------I must be barred or something. It looks that would at least tell you. Rebel are you still able to get on thier forum? Thanks. Albert

;D TN... been trying to "get on" ALL day; NO luck. NOT sure WHAT is going on. ALL BC# 2 sezs is "four miles from Buford's..." COULD be the tavern, the town, Buford's Fancy Farm, Buford's boulder (rock/stone); just NOT sure; Goose Creek is not even mentioned in the deciphered BC # 2. Traditional distances back then were from COURTHOUSE as "center of town/county"... BUT! I KNOW that the capital of Bedford County was LIBERTY during the CW. I know of about FIVE "sites" near Fancy Farm "area", which includes Bedford County Lake.

;D HA! TN STILL down... gonna do R & I on PB, and review places like Buford's Mill (LATER, Graham's Mill, I think), Buford's Depot (aka Buford's Station... RR), etc. Gonna track HIS "movements" 1820's to death; create a TEMPLATE of "within FOUR miles of Buford's" and "center" it on EACH location of SEVERAL Bedford County, VIRGINIA maps. If "centered" on Fancy Farm, may hit Peaks of Otter (WONDERFUL "site"), Johnson's Farm (up from the PoO Lodge), and some mine holes, ONE of which I fell in years ago (up to my crotch... wife was TERRIFIED! "You're gonna wake up a BEAR!").

;D HIGH-TEST! Praise da LORD! TN is BACK! STILL doing R & I on Buford's... Hmmm ... got on TN at 4:30 am. Noticed that on the 20th HUNDREDS of ppl tried to "get on"... MAYBE, the "system" CRASHED. OR... MAYBE, we have to blame it on the "Super-Storm" from the Sun "flare-ups" (radiations). "Google" "1994 Solar Storm" for preview of 2012 (NEXT "biggie", according to NASA).
