.....looking for those trees that have had limbs "bent" (formed) into the number "4".
With the leaves being off of the trees, these bent limbs are easy to see.
The bent limb will be an obviously formed and manipulated branch that comes straight out from the tree trunk (at a 90 degree angle) for a couple of feet (or a little more, depending on the age of the tree) and will then "bend" straight up to the sky.
Remember, Sentinels are STILL protecting these treasure trails, and will make new signs (on/with trees) as the old trees die off or get blown over by a strong wind,
or when erosion along the waterway washes them out.........so don't be surprised if you find a young tree with a bent limb.
Waterways are a favorite for treasure rooms for two reasons. First reason is the use of the water as a death trap. Secondly, along the banks of these waterways there is little change.....meaning that the trees and such have been left alone, and are seldom chopped down.
If you find a bent "4" limb on a tree, then look (within a 50 foot radius) for a "W". Once the "W" is found, measure out 49 feet, and hope you can find a "Y".
If you DO find the "W" and the "Y", now measure halfway in between these two signs (24 feet, 6 inches)....for that is where your treasure opening is waiting for you to dig it up. This is the "X" ("W", "X" and "Y")
Also, look a few hundred feet away from the "Z" location, and you should be able to spot an owl or some other sign (again, carved on a tree or boulder) that is telling you where the other end of this treasure tunnel is located (creeks that meet a river are a favorite for this set-up. one opening will on the creek, the other opening will be along the river bank). If you can locate the two ends of your treasure tunnel, then run a string-line between the two opening locations and metal detect along this string-line in order to locate the POZO's that will be found. This will require a computerized metal detector that gives you a read-out and shows the "disrupted ground" clearly. This disrupted ground will be a clear shaft....a POZO. And pozo's are the best way to get into a treasure tunnel. The main opening (at the "X" location) is there to kill you, plus it's a bitch digging with the water levels that you WILL run into as you gig down the 22 feet needed to find the main opening.
Like I say.....NOW is the time to find those bent limbs that lead to treasure rooms in the woods (along creeks and rivers). You can always dig and metal detect in the Spring when things thaw out.
