Yo! Rebel here: ;D LAWD GAWD A'MIGHTY ! beale, U trying to do a "Dan Brown" on me ? Seriously, I did see it... never asked P. V. about it... he did tell me, he DID not use any 'factual info" to write this novel... SO! my guess is... he had "ghost writers" and when it was put together... from "within the LIGHT"... came MANY "answers"... (playing Twilight Zone theme song...). ;D

Yo! Rebel... Elwood here:
Looked at your posting about the Madison Ciphers. Interesting! especially about the Negro boy, named "CUPID" ... but... you're not the first to have looked at this info.
Some 10 yrs ago, maybe more... I asked David Mason, what he thought about: 'the word "cupidity" being used in the Jan 4th letter"...
'the word "cupidity" appearing only once (p.84) in the Townsend book -- (188 4) "The Entailed Hat"
'the word "cupidity" appearing only once (p.481) in the Townsend book -- (188 6) "Katy of Catoctin"
(please note: the '4' and the '6' at the end of those dates--- the '4' + '6'... like in the C2 message... were the 'key' that I used to further "decipher" the rest of the C2 message)
When I asked David whether he considered these things of any importance, because I did... he replied: "Nah!"
Also, please remember... that Townsend created the name: John BEALL, for one of the characters in "Katy of Catoctin" story(1886)
Ya' know... I don't know why I keep doing this for you guys? Giving you the answers to things you should have already found, but haven't! You guys are "NO COMPETITION" at all! REALLY! Many of you 'BRAG' about having extensive educations... all kinds of degrees in math and computers... and you know what! IT doesn't mean a THING!!! Because " a country boy" with only a High School education from the mountains of Western Maryland... "HAS" beat all of you.
Well, I've got to get ready to go on another trip. Recently bought a new 2007 Ford F-250 super duty... stuck a big Lance camper on the back... and, me and momma, and our dogs... go traveling, weeks at a time.

Yo! Rebel here: ;D Elwood... 10 years ago? that was before I started... SO! What is your final answer? You and "Momma", and dogs have fun... We will continue to walk on these hills... 'cause, there is SOMETHING here... it MAY NOT be the B.T.; BEALL, that I am chatting about is the FIRST Reb hung during the Civil War... Townsend... 1886... HA! Got Townsend beat by 28 years...

Yo! Rebel here: ;D LATE at night... doing "reading research"... found VERY nice "source" connected to CSA stuff... THE COMMON DENOMINATOR by R. G. Babcock (BABCOCK - REBEL NAME !!! )... members.aol.com/rgbacock/index4.html Gen. Hunter (Yank) is stated to have come ALL the way to Hale's Ford (AKA Hales Ford Bridge - Smith Mountain Lake)... into Franklin County... about 3 miles... BEFORE retreating north to Bedford City, and splitting his yankees into TWO units... smaller one went back up Rt. 43, Peaks of Otter, into Buchannon; larger unit went WEST past Buford's (aka MONVALE)... past Buford's Gap... past Big Lick (AKA Roanoke)... into West Virginia... for the BIG battle there... Even tho, THE COMMON DENOMINATOR is based on happenings in Missouri... I hear VERY similar stories for BEDFORD COUNTY...
