David, I read somewhere years ago that when a code or cipher of this nature is scrambled it will almost always take a geometric shape on paper when unscrambled or put back in it's correct order when decoding, perfect square, triangle etc. so i would think a military formation would be included in that. I have tried this approach a few times but as you know you have to be right on the money with math to get the right answer. Wow! 5 viewing!

I guess i shouldn't have used the word "scrambled". What i see is numbers being taken out of numerical order systematically and adding or subtracting by a hundred or hundreds to place them at a certain position on all three papers. Also theres the thing about plus or minus one. I don't know if mistakes or maybe the count on paper 1 causes this or it's part of the game. Example: Just say put a 54 at the 71 position, then go to the 272 position and put a 55. If you combine all three papers and put them in colums of 100 this works on all three papers. If your number isn't on the group of numbers in paper 1 it will be on paper 3 or paper 2 exactly 99 100 199 200 299 or 101 201 301 etc. and the number next to it will more than likely be in front or after the 54 you started with plus or minus 1 . The code might not be scrambled but i bet your brain is now ha! Bring on the straight jacket! Whew! gotta get some shut-eye.

So we either have the "perfect" mathamatical hoax, or you have to know where to start in decoding. When adding or subtracting by a hundred or hundreds with all these numbers and using a chosen number first then it's counted position the next time with a hundred added to it you will get an optical illusion where it looks like something is going on but you can't see the woods for the trees effect! So logic tells me Beale has the right answer or who knows what the hell is going on here!

In conclusion, The best thought i've had lately is people are working together to find all the answers to the story and the ciphers. As far as ideas, i really won't have much more to contribute since my focus has been on my posts above for quite some time even though i don't get the pen out much anymore.

;D Something else to "think about"... type-setting the pages of ciphers are LIMITED to how the page is "set" for publication; something MAY have been lost in "translation"... AND! "Numbers" MAY have been changed... AND! "MASKING OVER-LAY" may limit "numbers" to be decoded... will try to find MORE on "MASKING OVERLAYS".

True Reb and just a few mistakes might throw you off in decoding. Guess we will never know but i worked with the above method for years since i know thats the math involved anyway so don't anybody even attempt to change "my" mind! Gonna snow on Halloween in Ky.!
