I know it'll take a bit of getting used to but I think this forum offers a little more control over your posts and with a bit of luck we'll have some fun with it.

Good Luck! with your latest site - I didn't think the last one was particularly bad. As a Beale enthusiast I'm a regular reader of the messages and yes I've dabbled with those codes for many an hours and found myself going nowhere. I am now looking forward to seeing David Mason's solution. If he's solved it then I will be very grateful. Its good to hear that we get to see it 'for free'. That makes a change!

Hi John, Thanks for the encouraging comments. I agree, the last forum wasn't "bad" exactly, but I have several forums with Voy.com and all (without exception) have had some problem or other in recent weeks. So I decided to look for another provider and when I was "turned on" to this one I felt I had to give it a try! I'm glad I did. Anyway, I'm glad to see at least one previously anonymous visitor taking the time to say "Hi!". Happy to have you aboard John. Remember though, registration is free and there's no threat of email spamming if you do decide to register! Registering simply protects your name from misuse and gives you greater control over your posts. Thank's again for your support!

For John Chitham, A correction....I am not claiming a solution, I have only discovered a hidden tool within the number 2 cipher solution that I believe will assist in finding a solution to the overall puzzle, it generates promising results but as of yet no clear cut picture to brag about. Yet the promise of greater things to come remains. And as I said and you quoted, it WILL be for free when it is fully developed. For those who have a copy of it, I believe the key word is TJB and the count is 20-10-2. The remaining cylinder is developed from the Jan. 5th letter. It's contents divided by 31 X 13 with nd signifing end.(or it may have a mathematical symbolism.....N en is 1/2 of em...a measure of type and D is 500) This may also be the significance of $13,000.....Three cylinders of 13 letters........13dX26a, 13dX26a, 13dX31a Sorry if this is cryptic to some, but it's still being developed but maybe you can deduce from this the path I am on. David Mason,
Ok not a solution, but any step in the right direction is good. The Jan 5th letter is interesting since unlike the others it is not signed.
I have been looking at Code 1 - like everybody else. What intrigues me is those 10 numbers which are greater than the DOI. They are 1701, 1629, 2018, 2160, 1780, 1496, 1817, 1431, 1706, 2906. To my mind it is unlikely that these could be letters which are counted out from a document. It would take too long and would be susceptible to errors. They are also spread quite evenly through code 1, but with a large gap in the middle, starting with 2160, 1780 at positions 171 & 172 and ending with 1496, 1817 at positions 391 & 392. This pattern does not look totally random to me. Do you, or does anybody have any ideas?

David, A while ago I also played around with the letters of TJB and 20 10 02. Then I looked at EAP to get 05 01 16.
What I did the was to deduct the lowest number from the highest number (20 - 5 = 15 : 10 - 1 = 09 : 16 - 2 = 14)
OK, so what's special with the date 15th September 1814? On that date General Alexander Macomb sent a detailed report to the Secretary of War about the defeat of the English at the Battle of Plattsburg, New York. The day before (14th) Francis Scot Key wrote The Star Spangled Banner to celebrate the victory over the English at the Battle of Fort McHenry.
What a coincidence!

Hello, I'd really like to sign up for the board, but it keeps telling me that I'm using the wrong form. Could you help, Rockhound? Thank you!

Hey there, I'll check back tomorrow - I chose the Register link on the main board page when I get that error message. And subsequently received it while attempting to Login and choosing the link on that page to register as well.
Thanks again!

Sometimes the best way to hide something is to not hide it at all. The TJB cipers are the earliest attempt at public key encryption. You're all focusing too hard on the whole and not seeing the key for what it is.
