If you have an interest in treasure hunting but don't know where to begin or have a question relating to treasure hunting in some form then leave a message here. Hopefully someone will answer your questions or direct you a website more suited to your interest. You won't know unless you try.

In the late 70's I visited my great Aunt in Missouri and was shown the deed to property. The deed states the boundaries of the property and in it says that the land conceals an unspecified treasure. I was a young teen at the time and don't recall the exact wording; I was much more interested in the hunt. The deed didn't give it's exact location but did say who the treasure belonged to. Have you ever heard of a treasure being listed on a deed? I have thought many times over the years about the papers I was shown. I was given a tour via tractor ride by my great uncle and much of the land was overgrown and inhabited by snakes. On the property there is a stream and many rocky outcroppings. I believe the property to be close to 80 acres. I would like to hear from anyone who has any information to share.

Hi Dacuz, My advice is that you drop by www.mindat.org and check out the Messageboard there. In the messageboard you'll find an Identity Help section. The beauty of this site is not only that it is frequented by some of the most knowledgeable amateurs but also by several experts and professionals. One major strength of the Identity help section is the ability to post pictures alongside your query. I hope you try the site out, not only for your current query but for the wealth of information and the fantastic members gallery. Perhaps we'll meet in the chatroom there, I'm a semi-regular visitor myself. Best of luck and KOR (Keep on Rocking) Rockster aka GOR in Mindat

I have a garrett 300 ace i find alot of newer coins and junk but i would like to know the depth i should achive in dirt to find older stuff i hunt in old parks and farms. danj, I have used a Garrett metal detector since 1984. I have not used the particular brand you mention. I do believe it is a good metal detector. I know I have heard good reports about the 250 ace-------the 300 should be a better grade above----if I know the way the Garrett's uses his number system. But anyway, air test your detector and bury a few coins to certain depths to see how the 300 ace responds. I have used the same Garrett detector since 1990 so I don't know much about the newer models. But on my older model, if you want it to go deeper you just have to put up with a low hum noise and you will pick up more trash at the surface. My advice is to dig all the surface metals or if you can use a shovel or rent a bobcat on a good location--------remove the top soil about four or five inches. The older coins will be below this that is if the ground surface is soft. Different soil compostions will take different depths. The softer the ground the deeper the coins and rings will go until they end up on a rock or hard based ground. I have found rings ten to twelve inches deep on solid stone. When the ground freezes and lifts up coins and heavy objects go downward until they get below the freeze line or get onto harder ground. I wish I could answer your question better but finding older coins you have to work harder and be sure to go where these older coins could have been lost. If a homesite is only twenty to thirty years old that will be how old the coins will be that you will find unless a coin collector lives there and gives some of the older coins to his children. I have known several cases of this happening. I wish you the best and keep us posted of your findings. PS I would advise that you stay out of those wells unless you use heavy equipment to dig the well out to the bottom as I have done in the past.

No one is forcing anything on you. I have to get the word out some how. If it offends you don't pay any attention to it. When someone raises a garden with more vegetables than they need do they not take them and sell them. If they don't tell anyone they will be a lot of wasted produce. The same is true of my books. I have put a lot of work into them. I am only wanting to share some of my work. Who knows it could lead someone to a really large treasure. I got an email from a man last week he said you don't know me and you don't know this but you helped me crack the KGC CODES. Maybe with us talking and sharing research we can help someone out. If I get a few dollars for this it won't be enough to pay me back for the 22 years of work, traveling and research I have done. Neither am I trying to get all that I have spent back. I am giving something and getting something in return. Such is the way of the FREE ENTERPRISE SYSTEM and I like to exercise my rights. While I am at it I would like to thank ROCKHOUND, REBEL and others on this forum for encourging me to write down my stories. I may never look back. I can't get enough of it. I can see hundreds of stories lying around in my research I need to write about, whether I get time or not I don't know. But, I spend all of my free time getting all of this together. I would like to thank everyone that has helped me and encourged me. I can never thank you enough. All have a great day.
