Yo! Rebel here: ;D tjb/beale, did U hear/read about the couple pots of coins, etc. found and reburied in Bedford County, about 2 miles west of Lynchburg, Va. near Judith Creek, on the Caldwell Farm on Trent's Ferry Road? "Behold! the Beale Treasure..." NOT! PROBABLY part of the CSA TREASURY... floated up the James River from Richmond (above the Falls...), off-loaded at the ferry entrance on the Bedford County side and moved "in-land", buried/found/re-buried... HA! Will send you "hard-copy" of info... think it has Terra-server map...

Yo! Rebel here: ;D Went to Moneta Library today to do research on the above... WOW! Down from Coleman's Falls; south of Abert at the Rail Road, and just south west of James River; TWO ways of transportation to move the CSA Treasury "in-land"... into VERY DEEP WOODS... VERY ROUGH TERRAIN... found out about the meanest. most hostile Rebel... James P. Holcombe... of Lynchburg... NOTORIOUS!!! lol

Rebel... a moment of your time, please.
I noticed that you were recently concerned about 'why' there is a Morris and a Morriss. Really... there is no concern, because they are one and the same. If I have time, I'll explain that further.
Many of you, I'm sure, have been perplexed, about "The Game." What is it, and what does it mean.
To put it simply: the game... is Morris. The oldest known 'game' in the world. A very popular game in Medieval Europe. But first originated in India. It then gravitated to being called 'Checkers' and then to 'Chess.' Also going by many other names, depending on what part of the world you are in. Shakespeare even makes use of it in "A Midsummer Night's Dream"--Act 2, Scene 2--- "The Nine Mens MORRIS is filled up with mud."
There was also some talk about something called, the 'Ever letter' which looks like this:
May 9 letter- My esteemed friend:(My) Ever since leaving... (Eve)
but also, this same arrangement appears in Chap #11 of the "Vicar of Wakefield," by Oliver Goldsmith. Though its appearance is different, when pronounced, they are the same. Michaelmas... (Mi) Eve happening... (Eve)
With that said... isn't MICHAELMAS also regarded as Christmas? Wonder if that has anything to do with 'Santa' Fe?
As I have tried to elaborate for years... this 'mystery' was created by some 'very smart and clever people.' My choice is, and always has been, authors/writers... Townsend, Carroll, and Clemens.
Why these men? My reasons are simple:
Townsend... creating a Negro character named Ashby, mimicking the characteristics of Confederate General-- Turner ASHBY, whose description profiles that of the character--- Beale. Townsend also created a character named--- Beall. All that at the same time the mystery was made public.
Carroll... the only one(at that time) with the expertise in cryptography, to make this thing look like something created by Poe(which it wasn't of course)(death does have its limitations)
Clemens... close personal friend of Townsend. Photographed together several times by Matthew Brady. Clemens was also born in Virginia, with "family" all over the "Goose Creek" area.
Only recently have I discovered the possibility of another, also involved in the mystery... George Washington Cable. Cable is not too well recognized, although traveling with Clemens for quite some time on his tours throughout the West and Canada. Cable was a Confederate soldier, and later wrote several books about Louisiana and his life there. Twain and Cable were regarded as "The Twins of Genius." Now let me ask you... have you ever taken notice as to how many words in this mystery have 'double letters?'(ergo;- leTTers) All those double letters... are sort of like 'Twins' aren't they.
Oh! and don't forget!!! That recent statement by David Mason about The Declaration of Independence primarily coming from the pen of John Locke (Virginia Bill of Rights)... is a statement of mine from an earlier posting. Definitely wasn't anything he could have found. In fact... I can't think of anything he has ever posted of any significance.
Come Spring... I hope to get someone with a boat that can take me out to one particular little island(KEY) in the Potomac River... just to see what it holds. Who knows!

Gee Whiz, David... I had always thought that this was 'an open forum' to discuss the merits of and how to solve the mystery.
I presented information for the entire forum... as is done in any democratic society. The people... the members of this forum... must be the one's to decide the merits of these postings. Certainly----------- NOT YOU!
I guess that next... you will pull out your pulpit and proclaim to these members... in your Holier than Thou attitude... that because I disagree with your ascertions(and I really do disagree)... that I "WILL BURN IN HELL" unless I repent and see things the way you do!!! YOU CAN FORGET THAT!!!
SO... go back to playing with your charts and graphs... your searches of old names... or trying to follow the non-existent paths of non-existent people. What ever your little lonely heart desires... just get back in your little play-room... and knock your self out!!! I could care less!!!
But David... the next time you decide to post something here... be sure to check the source... because you and Charlie seem to have a habit of 'borrowing' information you have gotten from me.
I often wondered "why" Charlie and you 'called me' on a regular basis? Then it dawned on me. Your calls "were just to drain me of information! And now that I've 'cut-off your supply of my findings'... the best you can do is ask rebel about a whore-house."

Yo! Rebel here: ;D WHEW! Getting BACK to the Rebel Treasury... Went to Bedford Museum, YESTERDAY, and Bedford City Library, TODAY... WHEW! The Rebs were BUSY! A KEY "player" was Brig. Gen. OR Col. T. T. Munford; he was a farmer in Bedford County BEFORE and AFTER the C.W.; former President of the B.O.D. of V.M.I. 1884 - 1888; died in 2/27/1918, and buried in Lynchburg, Va. (born 1831); NOW! "That said"... he was with the 37th Cav. CSA, that fought Hunter, Lynchburg/Bedford area... it makes sense that what the "locals" say about the B.T. being a "cover" for the C.S.A. T.; buried in Bedford County... MAYBE on the land that Munford was "farming" and "watching over", like a SENTINEL... Hmmmm... he was Prez. of V.M.I. at the time, the Beale Pamphlet came out in 1885... Hmmmm... need to make a trip to the V.M.I. Library.... Hmmmm...

thanks Rebel, I will do that, I have already made contact with my family in Abbeville and they too can be on the ground with us as well...and whenever I am in the area, I will be more than happy to help as well...and I just thought about this...when my dad was a little kid in Abbeville, they use to play, run and hide in the old underground passages that ran throughout Abbeville....they were made by the Civil War soldiers to move their caches and monies throughout the town without being discovered by the Union soldiers....i cant believe i just remembered this, my dad has an old map of the underground tunnels.....i wonder if....i will need to pm you, tbj and beale about this...i cannot post it....

Yo! SOS, good idea... beale has been there... MAY know the area; MORE research of interest... was at Bedford City Library, and got a GOOD copy of RICHMOND BURNING by Nelson Lankford for a BUCK... $1.00 !!! Library Sale... in it is info about T. T. Munford (Col., whatever...); he REFUSED to surrender his cavalry at Appomattox, eluded Grant's army... urged his men to continue the war..."We still have a country, a flag, an army, a Government. Then to horse!" (page 231, top). As he went west, he had printers in various towns do a "broadside, to ARMS!" HA! NOW, I think I know about the Beale Treasure... it does seems to be a "code" to carry on the fight... and $$$$, weapons MAY WELL be buried in the hills (mountains) of Campbell County, Bedford County, Blue Ridge Parkway... the "locals" DO talk MORE about that, than the so-called BEALE TREASURE... To think that T. T. Munford was a Bedford County farmer, before AND... after the C. W. ; went to "Buck's" birthday party with OTHER ex-Rebs (before 1918...); HA! lol...

Yo! Rebel here: ;D Yep beale, T. T. MUNFORD did create an new cavalry during the C. W., composed of Rebs from Tennessee, etc. hence, why "Buck" Wright could say he was a sharpshooter from Tennessee; MUNFORD was FROM Bedford County... REFUSED to accept surrender... returned to Bedford County after the C. W.; farmed and probably watched over "caches" of CSA Treasury/weapons in these hills, etc. HENCE... Turkey Foot Road... Turkey Toe Road... Stonewall Jackson Road... OTHER roads named for Rebs... turtle head rock in Bedford County... Turkey Foot Tracks on boulders... beech trees "markings" in Bedford County... LAWD GAWD A'Mighty !!! Have a nice new year eve "blow-out"! 2007... and see U ALL soon... YEE HAW !!! ;D
