Hi Suzan, Unfortunately this area of the site has not been as popular as I'd hoped but don't be too discouraged, I have an alternative, at least until help arrives in the form of busloads of geeky internet rockhounds like myself that is! Here is the forum/website I use for all my rockhounding needs. www.mindat.org/forum.phpIf anyone can help you then the community that's built up there over the years can I'm sure. My guess is that once you've tasted the delights to be found in Mindat you won't ever go anywhere else. And no, I'm not exaggerating, it's just that good. I also highly recommend the chatroom. I may even meet you there on occasion. Glad to have you aboard Suzan. Rockster

How about telling us a little about yourself? How you got into treasure hunting etc, nothing too personal of course. Just a little background to give us some idea of where you're coming from. I'd go first, but... well... I like to retain an air of mystery, plus, you have to have something to look forward to don't you?

I hope you all had a good holiday weekend. We don't celebrate "Thanksgiving" here in Scotland but I am partial to turkey dinners so here's hoping your's went OK!

What's happening in your life right now? No... really, I'm interested. And I bet everyone else here is too. What's the weather like where you are? Where exactly are you anyway? Do you have a middle name? Really? What is it? Is Jennifer Lopez anywhere near as gorgeous as Natalie Wood? Don't you just hate it when the guy in front makes the turn BEFORE he signals? Can you name the actress whose eyes appear in this forum's new banner? There must be a million things you'd like to share with the rest of us or questions you'd like to ask, so what are you waiting for? Did you notice the "New Thread" icon before you clicked on this message? Go back and hit it!... Who knows... it may mark the start of a beautiful friendship. Perhaps not! Nevertheless, go ahead and take a chance. What's the worst that could happen? (That was a rhetorical question, no emails please!)

New features huh? Right now, I have very few new and innovative ideas for improving the forum and that's precisely why I set up this board. Any ideas I do have will be implemented as soon as I find the time (and will be announced immediately in the News board).
This, then, is your chance to offer up YOUR ideas for improvements. Let me know what you reckon would be good additions/alterations to the forum and I'll see what I can do to implement them.
NOTE: If there are no messages left in this section I'll be forced to assume that the entire forum is perfect as it is! Trust me, it'll be virtually impossible to suffer my narcissistic outpourings if that's the case. Consider yourselves warned!

I've just added another 2 credits to the site so Picture Posting (Attachments) is now reactivated!
This feature will be active until the endo of the calendar month unless another 2 credits are added so please make use of the function folks. ;D

I just discovered how you (the members) can donate credits to the forum if you'd like.
On the main page, scroll down to the bottom of the screen, and below the Google search bar you'll see the words "Click Here To Make This Board Ad-Free". Click there and you'll be taken to the Proboards Forum Credit Service page where any credits purchased will be assigned to this forum.
$2 per month for 2 credits buys the forum 20Mb of space for pics/attachments per month.
My thanks in advance to any member who donates any amount, however large or small.

The initial 2 credits I purchased only lasted until the end of the month, not FOR 1 month from the date of purchase as I'd expected. I will add another 2 credits when I can but this won't be for more than 1 week at least. Anyhow, I hope you will all find some use for the option as I haven't seen any replies here in this thread which surprises me somewhat. I thought this would be an option that would prove quite popular. Time will tell I guess.
I'm told that if members wish to donate credits ($2 for the required 2 credits per month) they can, however... I have no idea how you would go about this.
Anyway watch this space, and let me know how you feel about having this option in the future.

Success!!!

I've just upgraded the site to enable users to attach photographs and/or files to their posts.
I believe the option activated (which cost $1 per credit, 2 credits per month ) should cover us for 1 month and entitles us to a storage limit of 20MB (512k per file).
I am embarrassed to say that although I realise that the cost is minimal, unfortunately I have extremely meagre funds (I am unemployed and have no internet access at home after all) and therefore cannot promise to continue to offer the facility without a little help, so I suggest that we just consider this option as a test ok?
Anyway, what you need to do to add a pic to your post is simple. When you choose to make a post you will see a new field beneath the Subject field, marked "Attachment", with a "Browse" button at the right. Just click the Browse button to search your computer for an appropriate file to include and Bob's your uncle!
Please be aware that all files must be 512kb or less.
I'll give it a try in this post to check it!
Hopefully all will go well and we can discuss the future of the facility at a later date since I am unable to be online regularly. I shall try to reply to any comments as quickly as possible.
Good luck!

Hi again all, There seems to be some confusion about how the chatroom works... There's NO download necessary & there's NO time limitation either.
I think I know how the confusion has come about though!
Here's how to enter the chatroom;
Firstly, click on the Chat menu item at the top of the screen and WAIT! When the login screen comes up, click on "Login", that'll make the screen active... click in the "Username" box and type your chosen screenname (note: it can be anything, not necessarily your username for the forum). Then click on "Login"
The chatroom will then launch and you can meet with anyone else currently in the chatroom.
Note, however, that you can't use the previous page to read the forum and if you try to navigate back through the forum the chatroom will close down and you will be ejected.
This is probably where the confusion has arisen.
Alternatively, you could open the chatroom in a new window by right-clicking "chat" and selecting "open in new window".
I hope this is helpful.

Apologies to everyone, my commitment to this forum hasn't waned, I am having trouble with my connection! To explain; I use a (pathetic) 56k diallup connection but recently I have had trouble with dampness encroaching on my main box causing difficulties connecting to the net. I am soon to be moving house so correction of the physical fault is unlikely to be happening anytime soon, and I therefore have to put up with the disturbance for the forseeable future.
I am therefore, only able to visit the forum occasionally, ie, when I visit friends or family or on those rare occasions when my computer plays ball!!
I hope my intermittent absence doesn't cause too much concern.
KOP (Keep on Posting) and I hope to talk to you all soon!
Regards, Rockhound.

We lost a member today simply because the interaction between contributers is sadly lacking.
I say "we" because I set this forum up for everyone interested in Treasure Hunting and those who felt the loss of the "American Treasure Hunt Society Discussion Forum" when it disappeared.
I obviously can't force visitors (members or guests) to contribute but I can request in the strongest terms, that those who visit here regularly do their best to support this forum.
It pains me to receive emails from potential contributers complaining that their comments are going unanswered or that they are unhappy with the forum as it stands, as I'm doing my level best to make this forum work.
Is it too much to ask that you do the same? Trust me, a little effort on your part wouldn't go amiss, I had hoped that you might consider this forum your own and support it as such, but it seems that I was mistaken. I hope you make me eat my words and show me that I'm wrong but right now I'm feeling a little disillusioned with the whole thing.
Rockhound.
