Re- Alexander Pope (my favourite poet next to Robert Burns of course!)
"A little learning is a dangerous thing, Drink deep, or taste not the Pierian spring. There shallow draughts intoxicate the brain, And drinking largely sobers us again." Alexander Pope - Essay on Criticism. Part ii. Line 15.
Or as I prefer to quote;
"Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt. " Abraham Lincoln
Perhaps that's why we have seen so few posts of late!

For 2004 (drum roll please).... FOUR new solutions. To go along with the rest of the stuff that has been floating around. (no offense) Well, here we are at the start of the 6th month of 2004, how are we doing so far? Been kinda quiet this year hasn't it? If you know of any forums or websites with any interesting info you think we should know about (such as the above) then please post them here so we can check them out.

Hi Morgan, Thank's for stopping by to interact with our motley crew of Beale enthusiasts. I trust they will offer up some interesting comments and questions but first can I ask a couple of questions of my own? 1. As I live in Scotland am I likely to see the movie in any theatres here (or in the UK at least). 2. When (if ever) will the movie be released on video/dvd for purchase and if so, how would one go about purchasing it? 3. Is there any literature to supplement the movie or indeed a book detailing your experiences? (if yes, details please). Did I say "a couple"?, I meant 3! lol Oh and if I forgot to say it before, Welcome to RNTHF Morgan

Now, now, come on guys, play nice!...
Morgan Faust (The director of said documentary) has kindly emailed in reply stating that she would be happy to visit this forum (time permitting) and perhaps reply to comments regarding her experiences vis a vis her experiences whilst researching the Thomas Beale story.
If you would like to leave some comments/questions then I'm sure she will be happy to respond.
I for one would be very interested to hear her views!

I just wondered if anyone knew anything about this: us.imdb.com/title/tt0363145/Any info you have would be appreciated! Addendum: I have invited the director of the above to join us here. If she has the time and the inclination to participate then I hope I can rely upon you all to show her the respect she deserves.

Hi Mel, Glad to see you've retained your sense of humour throughout the trials and tribulations you've had to endure of late. It's good to have you on board. I would recommend registering though simply because in doing so you'll make your name unavailable to other visitors! PS: If you teach me Hillbilly, I'll teach you Old Scots! Who knows when such knowledge might come in handy?

Hi John, Thanks for the encouraging comments. I agree, the last forum wasn't "bad" exactly, but I have several forums with Voy.com and all (without exception) have had some problem or other in recent weeks. So I decided to look for another provider and when I was "turned on" to this one I felt I had to give it a try! I'm glad I did. Anyway, I'm glad to see at least one previously anonymous visitor taking the time to say "Hi!". Happy to have you aboard John. Remember though, registration is free and there's no threat of email spamming if you do decide to register! Registering simply protects your name from misuse and gives you greater control over your posts. Thank's again for your support!

I know it'll take a bit of getting used to but I think this forum offers a little more control over your posts and with a bit of luck we'll have some fun with it.

Hi Jessie, I too am a rockhound (no prizes for guessing that one huh?) and own an old Magellan Blazer GPS unit which is good enough for my needs, no onscreen maps or anything fancy like that, but it's around 10 yrs old now so I can't say what might be on the market at the moment as I haven't bothered checking for some time. However, as you mention Garmin, as I recall, the brand took over as market leader over Magellan some years ago. I'd recommend researching basic units online bearing in mind that price doesn't necessarily equal quality. Quite often a "cheap and nasty" unit can be just as useful as an expensive gadget with tons of extra features he'll probably never use. Check out some online stores as quite often there are comments/reviews included to help you in your choice.
I hope that helps.
Best of luck with the rockhunting. KOR (keep on Rocking)

Rockhound, are you working out of the Leeds Hotel, is that old establishment still there? Hi Pope, Sorry I couldn't reply sooner, I'm still having problems with my diallup. Re: Leeds Hotel? I'm not sure what made you ask this but I actually don't know where Leeds hotel is/was I live in central Scotland between Glasgow and Edinburgh (I prefer not to be too specific for obvious reasons) and have never been actively involved in any bona-fide treasure hunting! Strike 2 against me lol If you have any more info on Leeds Hotel then I'm sure I can "dig up" some more info for you" Rock(free pun with every post)hound.

Great to see a new member appearing, glad to have you on board Tresrhunter, but could I ask for some more information on your hobby? Firstly, I thought arrowheads were primarily made from flint... And Secondly, "Marble Hunting"?...
Oh! and, how did you come across our little forum?
